The card I made for the hop was inspired by a card by Fiona Gallaway as she created a stunning card with a pink ink blended background. It inspired me so much, I create this card straight away. However, I didn’t quite have the colours of her card but I love how this card turned out! To add a little more interest to the background, I use water ink lift as I was using distress oxides to ink blend.

Creating the water ink lift background
Start off by ink blending Picked Raspberry Distress oxide onto a piece of Gina K Innocent Pink cardstock with a blending tool. Next, repeat this, but this time us Seedless Preserves Distress oxides. Remember to go back between the colours to smooth the blending out. Lastly, go in with Chipped Sapphire around the edges to create a lovely dark purple.
Once the ink blending is complete, place you card panel into your stamping platform. Take the outline stamp from the Altenew Ditsy Print stamp set and place over the card panel, closing your MISTI door to pick up the stamp. Next, spritz the stamp with water and lightly tap the stamp with a dry cloth to soak up excess water.
Now, close your MISTI door to stamp in water. When you open up the door, dab your dry cloth over the card panel where you stamped to lift up the ink from the card panel. This will give you a bleached look. Keep repeating this until your background is complete.
Creating the focal elements
For the florals, stamp the two layers of the florals in the Ditsy Print stamp set. For the pink flowers, I used Catherine Pooler It’s a Girl for the lighter ink. For the darker pink, I used a combination of Party Dress and Flirty Fuschia inks to create a hybrid pink ink. The purple flowers used Sugared Lavendar and Grape Crush Catherine Pooler inks.
Once all the floral layers were stamped, the outline layer was stamped in WOW! Clear ultra slows drying embossing ink and covered with Rose Glintz embossing powder before heat setting. This is a lovely peach powder that I knew would go well with some Burnished Rose cardstock. These florals once heat set were cut out ready to add to my card panel.
Assembling the card
To ground the florals, I die-cut two of the Altenew Nesting Frame dies out of Burnished Rose Cardstock from Tonic Studios and I also cut these out of scrap card twice to layer up for dimension. The frame was added to the card panel offset to one side for a modern design.
The florals were adhered to the card, adding foam dimension in places to added interest. In addition, a ‘You’re Amazing’ sentiment was heat embossed in white embossing powder onto a black strip of the card before it was added to the front with 3D foam pads. Lastly, a selection of clear Raindrops, from Lucy’s cards, in varying sizes were scattered around the card.
