Creating a repeating stamp/die-cut background!

For today’s post, I’m showing you how you can use a circle from the Positive Thoughts stamp set to create a repeating stamp/die-cut background. Of course, this background could suit an occasion, there are many ways to decorate the front, but I kept it simple today as a birthday card to focus on a quick and simple technique. I also went for a colour scheme that was more suited to a masculine card, as we can often struggle to make these, but feel free to switch the colours up!

repeating stamp/die-cut background

Creating the repeating die-cuts

Start off by stamping the smaller circle from the Positive Thoughts stamp set onto white card stock 4 times in a soft green ink. Here I have used Mint To Be from Catherine Pooler Designs.

Repeat the stamping with another 3 shades of inks in teals and blue. The colours used from Catherine Pooler Designs are Aquatini, Daydream and Juniper Mist.

Next, use Hero Arts Nesting circle dies just larger than the stamped image as well as a die smaller than the circle. Use some purple tape/low tack tape to adhere these dies over your stamped images and die-cut out all the images.

Creating the background

Before we assemble the background, take a piece of mint card stock to create a card base and using the same colour inks., blend the inks directly onto the card base. Start with the darkest shade at the top fading out to the lightest at the bottom.

To assemble the background, add thin 3D foam squares to the back of all the die-cut circles. Start at the top with the lightest colour and adhere the circles down in a row. To link the circles, snip the die-cut at one point to tuck around the adjacent circle. Keep repeating this all the way down the card, going from light to dark colours to contrast against the background.

Finishing the card off

To finish the card off, stamp and emboss in white onto black card, the sentiment from the stamp set and adhere to the front of the card. Lastly, add a selection of matt silver sequins to embellish the card.
