So if you caught my video the other day looking at the new Catherine Pooler Apothecary Inks and my ink blending colour combinations, you’ll have seen that I created some ink smooshed backgrounds with the leftover ink on my stencil mat. Well today, I’m showing you the cards I created with those panels showing a simple idea to use up backgrounds. I just love the new colour inks and they pair so beautifully with the Garden Treasures bundle from the Ex Libris collection. I had so many panels I managed to create 5 cards with them and if you follow me, you’ll have seen a sneak peek of one already. So let’s get started!

Die-cutting from ink smooshed backgrounds
For this card I die-cut one of my ink smooshed panels with the Circle weave die and adhered this to the white card panel. The colours on the panel included the new Ginger ink colour giving this die-cut a slight warm orange hue to it.

I also stamped several of the flowers from the Dried Treasures stamp set onto a selection of the ink panels in Black Jack ink. In addition, I samp the small pot three times.
After die-cutting the images with the coordinating dies, these were foam mounted onto the card. I added a heat embossed sentiment using the Natural Flourishes stamp set and added a few Ebony Black Nuvo drops to finish the card.

simple rule of three:
I keep this card very simple but the clean and crisp design utilises white space and design feature to keep you’re interested.

I repeatedly stamp the floral stamp from the Dried Treasures stamp set onto three ink smooshed panels and used the coordinating dies to cut these out. These were then foam mounted onto the card equally space apart and the rule of three in design lends to a cohesive design.
Again another sentiment from the Natural Flourishes stamp set was heat embossed onto black card and the trip was added across the three stamped images to create contrast and balance the card out.

Depth without dimension
This card creates plenty of depth and dimension without a foam pad in sight!

A selection of the florals, leaves and vases from the Dried Treasures stamp set was stamped onto a selection of the ink smooshed backgrounds and were die-cut using the coordinating dies.
These were added directly onto a white card base with liquid adhesive. To create depth and dimension, elements were overlapped to give the illusion of depth with the vases. A simple sentiment was stamped onto the card from the Natural Flourishes stamp set. This card features all the colours from the new inks: Terracotta, Ginger, Apricot and Wintergreen.

adding a full panel:
This card not only features the ink smooshed panels for the stamping but also as the background.

The background panel contains Ginger, Terracotta and Apricot inks in the background. To add contrast, images from the Dried Treasures stamp set were stamped onto panels containing either Wintergreen ink or Apricot ink.
The main vase was stamped just onto white card and shading was added with a soft grey pen. Another sentiment from the Natural Flourishes stamp set was added and the card was finished with Ebony Black Nuvo drops.

Simple with splatter:

If you follow the blog, you’ll have already seen this card and it is the simplest out of them all. Black ink splatters were added to a white card base before a sentiment from the Dried Treasures stamp set was stamped in Black Jack ink.
A single vase and flower stamped onto the background panels were die-cut out and foam mounted onto the front. Lastly, a few Ebony Black Nuvo drops were added to finish the card.
