Many ways with Pattern Paper – Gardner’s Notebook Catherine Pooler Designs

Pattern paper is great for creating with, whether you draw on its colour scheme, mimic its pattern or create bold background designs, it can complement your cardmaking techniques. Today I’ve got 5 cards showing many ways with pattern paper, specifically the new Catherine Pooler Designs Gardner’s Notebook Pattern paper, showing you several different ways to use it. I showed you a sneak peek of one of these cards later so I hope you caught that last week!

many ways with pattern paper

Die-cut with coverplate dies

Why not use your background cover plate dies with your pattern paper. For this card, die-cut the Terracotta paper from the Gardner’s Notebook Pattern paper using the Quilted Cover Plate die. Adhere this down onto white card base.

For the sentiment, die-cut three times the Just Thanks die out of white card. Before die-cutting, the last die-cut layer, colour the card with the direct to inkpad method using the new Apricot Inkpad. Layer these die-cuts up and add them to the front.

To finish these cards off embellish the card with sequins from the Tuscany sequin mix

Use the leftover negative pieces

This card makes use of the negative die-cuts from the last card. Before you adhere the full die-cut from the last card down, use this as a template to adhere the negative pieces onto a white card in the negative spaces of the die-cut.

Stamp a vase from the Dried Treasures stamp set and subtle grey shading. For the foliage, stamp one of the florals from the stamp set on an ink smooshed background that I created in this post HERE

To finish the card add a heat embossed sentiment from the Natural Flourishes stamp set and embellish with sequin from Tuscany sequin mix.

keep it simple!

This card shouts to my clean and simple modern side! Trim down a piece of the striped pattern paper from Gardner’s Notebook Pattern paper.

Foam mount the paper onto a white card base for added depth. For the sentiment, stamp a sentiment from the Dried Treasures stamp set onto white card and trim this down before adding this onto the card.

Again finish this card off with sequins from the Tuscany sequin mix.

Created a quick shaker card

Pattern paper is perfect for making shaker cards quickly. For this card die-cut the Picture Frames die from one of the Gardner’s Notebook Pattern paper and place a piece of acetate behind this opening.

Before adding this to a white card base, place some sequins from the Tuscany sequin mix in the middle of the card base and then foam mount the window pattern paper panel over the top.

To finish the card off add a ‘Ooh Lala’ die over the front of the window.

Add an eclipse technique

If you saw my post last week, you’ll have seen a sneak peek of this card. If uses one of the beautiful sheets from the Gardner’s Notebook Pattern paper.

Die-cut the circle striped die from the pattern paper add both this and the leftover paper onto a white card but foam mount the die-cut piece for an eclipse technique.

The Hello die-cut was cut out of card coloured with Terracotta ink and added to the front.
