Creating with complementary colours (Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Sweet Violet Release Blog Hop + Giveaway)

One tip that helps when creating and choosing is colours is to remember what the complementary colours are. These can help to create contrast and can allow focal images to pop off the card. Well, today I’m using complementary colours with the new Altenew Craft-a-flower and it is such a pretty one. As it is Sweet violet, I went with purple colours for a bright happy card.

You should have arrived here from the fantastic Nathalie DeSousa. You can always start at the beginning of the hop over at the Altenew Card Blog here.

Make sure you check out the end of the post for more details on the hop, along with your next stop!

creating with complemetary colours

complemetary colours: Yellow & purple

With the direct to paper method, ink white cardstock with the following colours: Serenade, Drive-In and A Queen for a Day. Next, take the flower head dies from the Altenew Craft-a-flower Sweet violet, and cut the corresponding die layer out of the right shade of purple.

In addition, also colour some cardstock with Garden Party and Grass Skirt to cut out the layers for the stems. Use liquid adhesive to layer up the flowers and create enough to make three flowers.

A great way to help make the flowers up of the card is to create with complementary colours, and in this case, yellow is the complementary colour of purple. With an ink blending tool, apply Limoncello ink to the middle of the card and fade this out.

Trim the panel down and add this to a white card base. Adhere the three flowers to the centre of the card and stamp a sentiment offset to one side. Lastly, embellish with a few clear sequins.
