Colouring can be very therapeutic as you spend a lot of time concentrating on only your colouring and nothing else. When you do that, you can easily spend hours of time on a single card. But what if you want to colour your stamps quickly and make several cards in one go? Well, I used an quick technique to create cards with simple ink smooshing for easy colouring.
The new Altenew Build-A-Flower: Coneflower stamp & die set was perfect for this, and I created 3 different but cohesive cards. Of course this technique can be used with any stamp & dies in your stash, so you don’t need to wait for your B-A-F to arrive to try this technique!
You should have arrived here from the fantastic Nathalie DeSousa. You can always start at the beginning of the hop over at the Altenew Card Blog here.

Ink smooshing for easy colouring: card 1
First of all, start by smooshing your ink colours of choosing down onto a glass mat and spritz water. Next, take a piece of watercolour cardstock and press this down into the ink smooshes. Keep repeating, allowing similar colours to blend or layer.

For this card, I stamped the Altenew Build-A-Flower: Coneflower stamp & die in Versafine Onyx black pigment ink onto two pieces of cardstock smooshed with Victorian Velvet, Tattered Rose, Shabby Shutters and Bundled Sage distress oxides.
Once these are dry, use the coordinating dies to die-cut the images out and foam mount onto a white card base. To finish the cards off, add a stamped sentiment from the Altenew Build-A-Flower: Coneflower stamp & die in black ink. Add a few Primary Ebony Nuvo drops to embellish. I just love the simplicity of this card!

Ink smooshing for easy colouring: card 2
For this card, I stamped the Altenew Build-A-Flower: Coneflower stamp & die on several different panels which included the colours above but also Seedless Preserve, Shaded Lilac, Dusty Concord and Forest Most.

After the images were die-cut, I used them to create a slimline card and foam mounted these to give the appearance they were floating down the panel. For a more cohesive look, allow the flowers to hang over the edge and trim for a seamless finish.
Again, another sentiment from the stamp set was added to the card base with several Nuvo drops to embellish.

Ink smooshing for easy colouring: card 3
For this last card, I decided to step the flowers up a notch after I had stamped onto the ink smooshed panels. I used similar colours to the flowers of the card panels and coloured them in with Alcohol markers.

For the flowers, I used colours from the Water Garden Artist Alcohol Marker set and used pinks Sunshine Valley Garden Artist Alcohol Marker set. This gave a different tone and take on this flowers and create a bold striking card in comparison to the previous two.
The flowers were foam mounted onto the card in one corner, cascading down the card. Again, another sentiment from the stamp set was added to the card with a few Nuvo drops.
