I am so excited today to be bringing you my first video as part of the Brand Ambassador team for Catherine Pooler Designs. I’m using the beautiful Single Rose Die that’s come out in the new One Plus One stamp and die release with Catherine Pooler Designs to create some ink smooshed die cuts for a couple of different wedding cards. This method is a great way of colouring intricate die-cuts like this, adding a lot of texture to your cards. So let’s get started.
PRODUCED AS PART OF MY BRAND AMBASSADOR WORK FOR CATHERINE POOLER DESIGNS - SEE END OF POST FOR MORE DETAILS
creating the ink smooshing
Catherine Pooler inks are great for a variety of techniques, and as they are water-reactive, you can use them for inks smooshing as well as creating splatters over your card. To do the ink smooshing, press Coral Cabana ink pad down onto a non-porous surface for example like glass media mat. Then use a water spray bottle to spritz the ink with water until it beads up.

Now you can press a piece of watercolour cardstock down into the ink to pick up that colour. You can do this as many times as we want ink in different areas of the card stock. Once you’re happy with the coverage you can then either leave the panel to dry or use a heat gun to speed up the process. Now repeat this using Samba and Party Dress Catherine Pooler Inks.
I would always start off with the lighter colour of ink and go from light to dark colours because if you start off with the dark colours, none of the lighter colours of ink are going to show. Repeat this with purple tones using: Sugared Lavendar, Royal Treatment and A Queen for A Day.
Giving more weight to the die-cuts
To give the Roses more weight on the card, these where adhere to white cardstock with liquid glue before fussy cutting these out. For added interest to the background, use a blending brush to apply soft ink blending to come from behind the flowers. This card used Melon Ice Catherine Pooker Ink, a lovely soft green.

The roses were adhered to the card base with a combination of liquid adhesive and foam pads to create variation in dimension. A sentiment from the ‘Tie The Knot’ sentiment stamp set was heat embossed in WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder before being trimmed down and foam mounted on to the card. Lastly, sequins from the Flamenco Bay sequin mix were added to the card.
Creating another card with the leftovers
This second card uses one of the leftover rose die-cuts. For the background, a white tone on tone die-cut background was created using the Polka Dot Cover Plate die, die-cut out of Catherine Pooler White Premium cardstock.

The background die-cut was adhered to a white card base using liquid adhesive. This white tone-on-tone background adds interest but allows the rose die to pop off the front. The rose die-cut was foam mounted onto the front of the card for some dimension.
Another sentiment from the ‘Tie The Knot’ stamp set was heat embossed in white on black card and trimmed down before foam mounting onto the card. A few soft pink sequins from the Flamenco Bay sequin mix were adhered to the front with liquid adhesive.
