Brutus Monroe: March Stamp of the Month

Hey there, good to see you again! I hope you week is off to a great start and you aren’t getting the mid-week blues. Brutus Monroe is having another hop to showcase March Stamp of the Month which you can get on subscription. This months stamp is this fun and cute Hippo which comes with a couple of sentiments. What is great, is the Hippo’s plaque/board comes blank so you can stamp anything you want in it. I used the happy hippo to create a ‘Congrats’ card and I was aiming for a more masculine inspired card.

*For supplies featured in this post, please refer to the links at the end of the post.

March stamp of the month Card Details

Start off stamping the Hippo in Raven Black ink which works well with Alcohol markers. I coloured these in with Spectrum Noir markers. In addition, stamp an image onto the board – I used a rosette from the Brutus & Friends stamp set. Fussy cut this out and set it to one side.

Trim a piece of navy cardstock down to a card panel and die cut a circle out from the top third. Score lines horizontally at 1/4″ apart. Apply a sheet of acetate to the back of the window and set this to one side.

Take a piece of smooth white cardstock, larger than the die cut window. Using a blending tool, blend Rock Candy Surface ink gradually fading out. I added a little Faded Jean Distress Oxide to the top for an ombre look. Flick an few drops of watered white paint over the top for added texture. Allow this to dry. Add a double layer of foam tape around the die cut window on the back of the panel. Alternatively, back with a layer of fun foam with the same size die cut circle window. Fill the window with sequins and beads and seal the window with your ink blended panel.

Wrap some black bakers twine around the card panel and mount onto the card base.  Add a stamped sentiment in Raven Black embossing powder on a strip of white card and foam mount the hippo above the sentiment. Create a dimensional sentiment die cut by layering several die cuts together and adhere to the window of the shaker. Lastly, embellish with white Tonic Nuvo drops.

Did you like this project? Why not pin it and save for later? It will be there for when you need it!
