If you’ve been following Catherine Pooler over on social media, you’ll be aware that three of her ink colours are retiring and being refreshed. These new refreshed ink colours had higher pigmented colours than the original versions. Here I have a side by side comparison of the original and the new refreshed colours for you, as well as creating two mixed media cards with both sets of colours. Obviously, if you still have old colours, they’ll work just as well until they run out, but the new colours are just a little more saturated. It is more apparent when you see the colours in front of you, but I think in the photos you can see the difference the easiest with the blues.

New Refreshed Ink Colours: side-by-side comparison
The first colour that is changing is Mint To Be with the new name of Minted. Here you can see the refreshed mint colour is brighter than the original which has a slight grey tone in comparison with the refreshed colour.
The second colour which is being refreshed is It’s A Boy to Oh Boy! Here you can really see the more saturated light blue colour, and the original is much more muted colour.
And the last colour to be refreshed is Sweet Sixteen to Sixteen Candles. Again here you can see the new refreshed colour has a move vivid lavender colour compared to the more grey muted tone seen in Sweet Sixteen.
Mixed media card with new refreshed ink colours
I created two mixed media cards with both sets of inks. The card on the left with the Hello word die is the new refreshed ink colours. The card on the right with the Thanks word die is with the original ink colours.
To create these cards, I added 3 drops of each ink colour to some Altenew Embossing Paste. Next, I used a spatula to add a splodge onto a white card panel and see this to one side to dry.
I also added some colour corresponding metallic paint splatter over the top and once dry added these to a white card base. For the sentiment, I die-cut each sentiment out of glitter cardstock made with WOW! Gold Dust Essential Sparkles. These were layered up to create dimension.
As you can see in a side by side comparison, the card on the left has bright tones of each colour. The right still has a lovely look to it, but when compared to the left you can see it is more muted.
