Hot foil normal dies – A Pocket Full of Happiness

I was lucky enough to get some money for my birthday back in November so I decided to treat myself to some goodies from A Pocketful of Happiness. A Pocketful of Happiness is a craft company by Zsorka who I have had the pleasure to work with through WOW! Embossing Powder and she decided to branch out into her own company. I have loved her stuff from afar and decided to splash out on myself and buy some craft goodies that were complete of my own accord. She has such a fun modern style and I cannot wait to make more with it.

I absolutely love the look of the Circle Around die but I had a thought. What would that die look like if I used it with my Glimmer machine and foil it? Well, I had an inkling it would look amazing, and oh boy it didn’t disappoint. Have you tried hot foiling normal dies?

I’m not affiliated with A Pocketful of Happiness and I have not been gifted/asked to make this post.

Hot foil normal dies

how to hot foil normal dies:

Start by heating your hot foil machine up – I use a Spellbinders Glimmer Machine – and place the Circle Around die onto the heat pad with the cutting side of the die facing up. In order to hot foil normal dies, you need to ensure the cutting side of the die is facing upwards. Press the timer to heat the die up.

Once the platform timmer is up, place a piece of the Spellbinders Gold Hot Foil over the die with the pretty side facing down onto the die. Cover with Nautical Hero Hues cardstock over the top along with the accompanying shim and plater.

Run the whole platform through your die-cutting machine slowly to foil. Remove the foil sheet to reveal the design. If you get any excess over foiling, brush away with a stiff brush.

finishing the card off:

Trim the panel down and add this to a white cardbase. For the sentiments, heat a trio of sentiments from the Mini Everyday Sentiment hot foil plates from Spellbinders in gold foil.

Trim the sentiments down and foam mount onto the front of the card. Lastly, add some gold sequins to embellish the card.

I created this card for my Partner who recently got a job. I feel the foil and this background die has a sort of art deco feel, what do you think?

  • Love this card. In fact, I loved it so much I ordered the die. Of course, I also plan to use it as a die. You’re right about it looking a bit art deco. It will be really great for masculine cards and I always need a lot of those. Thanks for sharing this fantastic card!
