There is a new beautiful Altenew Craft-a-flower: Dendrobium Orchid Die and if you are hopping along you’re going to see some beautiful inspiration with the die creating the flower as it would traditionally be seen. But today, I want to show you that you can take the flower die and create a different look with a flower die than what was originally intended. Instead, I used it to create some flowing foliage hanging down and it completed changes the look.
You should have arrived here from the fantastic Michelle Short. You can always start at the beginning of the hop over at the Altenew Card Blog here.

Make sure you check out the end of the post for more details on the hop, along with your next stop!

create a different look with a flower die: colouring the flower
For this card, I used the Red Sunset Gradient Cardstock bundle to die-cut the various layers of the Dendrobium Orchid flowers out of. The Altenew Craft-a-flower: Dendrobium Orchid Die packaging has a layering guide on the back showing you what colours to cut each layer from. Each flower adhered together with liquid adhesive following the layering guide.

For the leaves, I coloured some white cardstock using the direct to paper method with your ink pads. The colours I used were: Grass Skirt and Deck The Halls inks. Again, the leaves were adhered together with liquid adhesive.
To create the background, use a blending tool to ink blend a blue sky background with the following links: It’s a Boy, Something Borrowed and Suede Shoes ink. In addition, I add a few blue ink splatters to the background.

To assemble the card, adhere the flowers and leaves down in one corner, allowing this to cascade down the card. To finish the card off, add a stamped sentiment from the Engraved Flowers stamp set.

I never think to put my small flowers in the corner like that. What an inspiration to me. It also helps by the various photos of the card.
