Colour blocking is a great way to create a bold card – it also is a great background to heat emboss on. I used a colour block background with the new Paint-a-flower: Lotus stamp, released today, showing you an alternative way to use a detailed colouring stamp like this. You can use any colour scheme you like, but I was drawn to purples for this card. I trimmed the panel down so I could add a little more texture to the base as well! Colour blocking with heat embossing is a fun easy cardmaking technique, so let’s get started!

Colour blocking with heat embossing: creating the panel
Trim 1/4″ strips of cardstock in varying colours. Here I used the New Purples Colour Gradient cardstock from Altenew. Next, add wide double-sided adhesive to a scrap piece of card.
Start adding your strips of card to the panel, changing the colours for variation. For a fun look, go dark to light for an ombre gradient. Once complete, heat embossing in WOW! Opaque Bright white embossing powder the Paint-a-flower: Lotus stamp set onto the background.

To add some texture, dry emboss a card panel with the Altenew Diamond Starts 3D embossing folder. Add this to a card panel, before adding the heat embossed panel onto the front having trimmed this down.
Lastly, finish the card off by adding a stamped sentiment from the Paint-a-flower: Lotus stamp and a few white Nuvo drops.
