Alcohol ink on vellum

Alcohol ink on Vellum (Altenew Paint-A-Flower: African Daisy Outline Stamp Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway, $200 in Total Prizes)

What I love about using Alcohol ink on vellum is the soft muted tone of the vellum contrasting with the bring colours of the alcohol ink. Vellum adds a lovely soft texture to your papercraft project and with heat embossing over the top, the alcohol ink adds such a vibrancy to the stamp design. Here I have used the new Altnew Paint-a-flower: African Daisy stamp and create a framed art panel to add to a card front. If you’re not got the colours or want to start crafting straight away, then you can use this technique with any stamp you have.

You should have arrived here from the fantastic [INSERT]. You can always start at the beginning of the hop over at the Altenew Card Blog here.

Make sure you check out the end of the post for more details on the hop, along with your next stop!

Times for using Alcohol ink on vellum

As vellum is lightweight, you may find it curls when adding alcohol ink to it, so temporarily adhere it down with washi tape to a non-porous surface like a glass mat. Next, add some blending solution to the panel before dropping in some of the alcohol ink colours.

Depending on whether you can cover the whole panel or create a pattern across the panel is up to you. If you find it a bit too intense with the colour you can add more blending solution to soften and lighten the colour. The colours use here are:

Once the vellum has dried, decide which side of the vellum you want to add the heat embossing to. One side will be more muted than the other. Heat emboss with gold embossing powder the Paint-a-flower: African Daisy stamp set. In addition, sandwich the vellum sheet between two white rectangle die-cut frames. This will help reduce warping and give you a way to adhere it to a card base without the adhesive showing through.

Lastly, heat emboss a sentiment from the stamp set in gold embossing powder onto black card. Fussy cut and trim down before adding this to the front of the card.
