Altenew creates beautiful easy layering stamps and the new Build-a-flower is another perfect layering stamp set. I keep playing with brights and muted colours and I thought the beautiful Altenew Build-a-flower: Bearded Iris stamp & die set would suit a lovely muted tone blue combination. To allow the blues to pop off the background, I added a lovely soft ink blended background as a contrast. So let’s great creative with easy stamp layering and a hint of embossing for added texture.

Easy stamp layering: building the flower
Start by stamping the outline of the Altenew Build-a-flower: Bearded Iris stamp in black ink 3 times. Next, stamp the full layer in Tranquil ink over two of the flowers – keep one flower plain at this point.
For these two flowers, then stamp the remaining layers in the following colour order: Cove blue, Juniper Mist and black ink. For the other flower, start stamping the layers from the second layered stamp onwards in the following colours: Tranquil ink, Cove blue and Juniper Mist ink. This will create a softer paler flower.
Lastly, use the coordinating flower to cut out the images. For the leaves, stamp these in the following colours: Eucalyptus and Green Tea ink, and use the coordinating die to cut these out.
Easy stamp layering: creating the background.
Using an Altenew Ink Blending tool, start to add Rouge ink to one edge of a card panel and fade this colour outwards towards the other side. To add more interest, dry emboss the Altenew Woven Stencil according to your die-cutting machine.
Trim the panel down and add to a white card base. In addition, add a few pain splatters in blue and gold using the Altenew Metallic 14 pan Watercolour set. Next, foam mount the flowers and leaves onto the card front.
To finish the card off, add a heat embossed sentiment strip and a few gold sequin discs to embellish the card.
