Welcome, good to see you again! This weeks Brutus Monroe blog hop is a great one – it is DT favourites. Each stop of the way you will find a project from a team member using their favourite items from Brutus Monroe. Now it was quite hard to pick a favourite as there are so many great items at Brutus Monroe. However, I have recently fallen in love with the surface inks and how well they blend!! So for today’s project, I created bold blend backgrounds with 4 cours of Brutus Monroe surface inks and transformed them into 2 cards.

DT Favourites Card Details
To start, I ink blended Speckled Egg Surface Ink with a Blending tool onto some Alabaster cardstock. Make sure you start off the cardstock on a slick surface like a blending mat or glass mat. Gradually build up the colour in layers. From the other end of the card panel, I blended Oz surface ink. Where the two inks met, I switched colours, blending them into one another until a seamless blend was seen.

To make the card, I applied pearlescent embellishment mouse in colour corresponding colours using a Palette knife. Once dry, I added heat embossed cake from the Topsy Cake stamp set along with a sentiment from the set. These were foam mounted using 3D foam squares to add dimension. Lastly, I added colour corresponding nuvo drops.

For the second card, I repeated the ink blending using Marsala surface ink and Aubergine surface ink. These two colours created a beautiful grape colour when blended, I love it! The card was assembled in the same manner as above, using embellishment mouse to ground the foam mounted cake and sentiment. I use the lovely Crystal Bottle cap sequins along with a few sequins from my stash to find the card off.
