When you get a stamp set, you may initially think there is only one way to colour it, but don’t let your brain fool you! I’m showing you 2 ways to colour 1 stamp set and today it features the new Altenew PAF: Clematis, though you can use these techniques with any stamp set you have. This is a love floral design that is perfect for detailed colouring or a looser style, so there is an option for everyone. I’ve also gotta a couple of bonus cards at the end using some new Alcohol marker colours from Altenew – creating more modern and simple backgrounds. 2 ways to colour 1 stamp: pencil colouring
For this first card, I used my Faber Castel Polychromos pencils to colour the image in. Start off by stamping the Altenew PAF: Clematis stamp onto magenta cardstock in embossing ink/watermark ink. It is best to use a stamping platform for this technique and keep the stamp inside once you remove the cardstock.Â
I wanted to highlight the flowers and coloured these in with a textured look, making stroke marks out from the centre of the petals in a couple of shades of pink and white. Next, reposition the card back into your stamping platform and restamp in embossing ink and heat set with Gold embossing powder.Â
For a little more definition, I added soft shading with a white pencil over the trellis. Lastly, added a heat embossed sentiment from the stamp set in matching embossing powder and finished with a few clear Nuvo drops.Â
2 ways to colour 1 stamp: loose watercolouing
This second card is a looser style of colour and is very quick to do. Start by heat embossing the Altenew PAF: Clematis in gold embossing powder onto watercolour cardstock. Next add clean clear water over the petals – this does not need to be neat or perfectÂ
Start to drop in colour to the petals allow the water to move the ink and blend. Here I used my Altenew 36 Watercolour pan set with the colours Puffy Heart and Purple Wine. Add darker shades to the centre and it could bleed out, it’s fine as this is a looser style.Â
I repeated the same process for the leaves and the trellis and then added a soft blue haze to the surroundings. You can watch the process in the video above! This card was also finished with a heat embossed sentiment and a few clear Nuvo drops.Â
Bonus cards: new Alcohol marker colours for bold cards!
There are some fab new colours of Alcohol markers also releasing today. I made to two cards with the new colours, but instead of colouring an image in, I used them to create some fun modern and bold geometric backgrounds. This card below features the Water Garden Artist Marker set.
