If you caught yesterday’s post, you’d have seen a straightforward card featuring the new Catherine Pooler Date Night inks and was perfect for a little girl. Well, I wanted to recreate this for a masculine striped birthday card and I’m featuring my favourite ink of the Catherine Poolers – Juniper Mist! I love navy and I couldn’t make a card without some navy in it! I’ve paired it with a great colour combo that I have made using some blues from the Party collection of inks. You can see that post and video here for all my colour combos!
Although Juniper Mist is from the Spa collection, and the Spa and Party collection don’t tend to mix as much, I still wanted to add it in this card for a little more drama. The Spa collection is a more muted tone -hint of grey in the colours, whereas the Party collection of vibrantly pigmented colours.

masculine striped birthday card: the colour combination!
For this card, trim strips of card down to 0.5″ wide. I planned to create a diagonal pattern, so I didn’t need the strips as long as the card from yesterday. Colour the cardstock strips with the direct to pad method, dragging the strip over the pad to colour it.
The colours used on this card feature: Juniper Mist, Suede Shoes, Fiesta Blue, Cummerbund. These were adhered down at a diagonal across a slimline card panel but you can use whatever size you want for your card and alternate through the colours.

This card was finished off with a mother layer happy die-cut from the Happy Thanks die and was cut out of black card to add contrast. A heat embossed sentiment from the Kudos to You stamp set was foam mounted onto the front.
As I was making a Masculine striped birthday card, I didn’t want to add any sequins. Instead, to embellish the card I added some Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops from Tonic Studios scattered around the card and also added some to the die-cut word to add a little shine.
