What I like about the Lovely Ornaments stamp and die set from the Altenew Rustic Charm release is the size of the baubles. These are really big so you can easily create with them and make different sized cards to switch up your card projects. So for today’s video, I’m showing you how to create 1 card design with different card sizes. I also got create with the amazing layered snowflake embossing folder, who can resist a bit of sparkle! Lastly, I made a non-holiday card and share my tips on how to create depth within a card design.

1 card design with different card sizes
For this first card, I created a 6.5″ square card as these big baubles from the Lovely Ornaments die set can work on this size card. Start off by using the 3d Basic Plaid embossing folder with a white card panel measuring at 6″x6. Spritz this with the Antique Gold Ink Spray and set to one side to dry.
To create the baubles, die-cut the circles and the little bauble hangers out of Nautical cardstock and Cherry Red cardstock. In addition, die-cut the dripping die from the Lovely Ornaments die set out of card heat embossed in Gold. Adhere all the pieces together.
Layer the baubles up onto the card panel, adding some black thread to ‘hang’ the baubles and cluster them in a three in one corner. Use varying foam dimension to add interest. Add a few heat embossed sentiments from the Lovely Ornaments stamp. Lastly add some coordinating sequins to embellish the card.
I wanted to show that you can also create the same design on a smaller card even though the baubles are large. I kept it a little simple with just a white embossed background so that the ink spray background does not stake over such a small card.
I switched up the colours of the bauble to create the same card design with a little twist.
Sparkle and snowflakes!
This card features one of the new festive embossing folders. Run the Layered Snowflakes 3D embossing folder with a piece of Powdered Blue card panel through your die-cutting machine set up to dry emboss.
Next, with a large blending tool, start to ink blend colour onto either corner where the snowflakes are. Here I went in with It’s a Boy, Something Borrowed and Suede Shoes, fading to the lightest colour where the snowflakes have disappeared.
To add a little sparkle, gently run your embossing ink pad over the raised areas of the cardstock and around all four edges. Cover this with Midas Touch embossing powder and heat set.
To finish the card off, heat emboss in white onto black card a sentiment from the Cozy Winter Vibes stamp set. Fussy cut this out and add to the front before embellishing with a few sequins.
Layering to create depth
For my last card (sounds like I’m a magician, ha ha!), I’ve created a non-holiday card! This features the True Friends stamp, stencil and die set. Start off by ink blending through the open leaves of the True Friends coordinating stencil onto a white card panel (see colours below). These can overlap and don’t have to be perfect as we are trying to create depth – further away objects will appear light.
In addition, ink blend directly onto the card panel with a soft green – here I used Garden Party. On a separate piece of card, stamp the different size leaves in Twilight ink. Next, use the colouring stencil to ink blend and colour the images in. The colours used were: Garden Party. Eucalyptus, Green Tea and Merlot.
Use the coordinating dies to cut the images out and start to layer up the images onto the ink blended panel with varying depths of foam pads to add dimension. Also heat emboss in white a sentiment from the stamp set onto black card, trimming this down to add to the card.
Lastly, embellish the card with a few matt silver sequins.
