You’re the zest!

You’re the Zest! What a great sentiment for a card! If you’re not aware WOW! run a monthly Facebook challenge in their fan group and this months theme is ‘New to you’. Well, this card has a lot of new to me products including this fruity stamp set! What’s more, this background has 3 different embossing powders, 2 of which are new! So hopefully this card is packed full of inspiration for this months challenge. Don’t forget to head over to the group, link at the end of the post, so you can enter your card for a chance to win $15 or £15 gift card!

You're the zest!

You're the zest! - Creating the background

First of all, trim a piece of Double Denim Gina K cardstock to 1/4 inch smaller than you card base. Next, using a stamp block, stamp the lemon from the Fruit for Thought stamp set from WOW! in one corner, hanging off the edge. Before stamping further, cover this with Sea of Tranquility from the Cosmic Trio from WOW!

Next, stamp again with embossing ink below this lemon and to the side of the lemon so they are diagonal from one another. Now cover these with Capri embossing glitter from the Italian Adventure trio from WOW! After this, stamp the lemon, three times going diagonally next to these previously stamped lemons and cover with Bahama from the Caribbean Trio from WOW! Keep stamping and alternating the embossing powders for every diagonal until the background is complete. Once complete, heat set with your dual speed heat gun and put this to one side.

You're the zest! - Creating the focal point

For the focal point of the card, stamp 3 of the lemons in Limoncello in by Catherine Pooler Designs. Next, add a small amount of Tiki Torch to one side of the lemon stamp with a rock and roll motion and stamp over the top of the lemon. Repeat stamping over the top with Limoncello once more to blend and smooth out the Tiki Torch. This will give some dimension to the lemons.

Stamp the lemon speckles in Tiki Torch down one side and then fussy cut the lemons out. For the leaves, repeat the stamping for depth and dimension using Garden Party and Lime rickey. Once complete fussy cut these out to add to the lemons.

You're the zest! - Assembling the card

To assemble the card, die-cut a white circle and foam mount onto the card panel offset into one corner. For the sentiment, heat emboss in Opaque Bright White embossing powder ‘You’re the zest!’ onto black can and trim down. Foam mount the sentiment onto the panel and cluster the lemons around this.

Adhere the whole panel onto a white card base and finish the card off with some Buttermilk Nuvo Crystal drops from Tonic Studios.
