The most recent Christmas stamp & die release from Catherine Pooler features the beautiful ‘Peace, Love & Holly’ stamp and die set which is perfect for creating a watercoloured Christmas wreath. Pair it with no-line water colouring and a black marker to add a sketchy look to it, you can get a beautiful soft wreath perfect for adorning a card. It also goes so well with the ‘Through the woods’ Paper pack too don’t you think?

watercoloured Christmas wreath: painting the wreath
To start, stamp the two large wreath sprigs along with a few of the other smaller foliage from the stamp set onto watercolour cardstock in Twilight Catherine Pooler Ink. Allow this to dry before you start to watercolour.

Start off by adding a flat colour wash of green over the leaves, making sure you don’t paint to leaves next to one another. Now go back in and start building the colours up, adding darker shades at the pass of the leaves. Repeat this process for the berries and flowers as well.

watercoloured Christmas wreath: add the 'sketchy' look
Before you die-cut these out, use a black fine liner and loosely draw around the images to create a sketchy look to the design. Next, use the coordinating dies to cut out the images.

Trim a piece of wood paper from the ‘Through the Woods’ paper pack down to a5″ x 4.5″ and adhere down onto a white card base. Next, die-cut the ‘Happy Holidays’ word die three times out of black card and layer this up for dimension.

watercoloured Christmas wreath: finishing the card off
To assemble the card, add the wreath with foam pads of varying dimension for added interest. Adhere the sentiment down in the middle of the wreath and finish the card off a with a few clear bubble embellishments scattered around the wreath.
