Two for one watercolouring – timelapse video!

Today I’m sharing with you a project created as part of a new work opportunity. I was approached by Bindu from Crafty Meraki and was asked if I would like to make some projects and inspiration with some of her fabulous products. I had a look at the Crafty Meraki website and loved what I saw. What is great about the company is that they cater to both cutesy critter style stampers of elegant floral stamps like myself. The critter stamps look cute, but I personally struggle to make them with critters – it’s just not my style.

So as my first post I have a two for one watercolouring video tutorial showing how I coloured in the stunning Believe in Miracles stamp set in and created two cards out of this one panel. It is such a large stamp that you can create 2 A2 cards or create a large card!

two for one watercolouring cards: the watecolouring process

Start off by stamping the large floral from the Believe in Miracles stamp set  in embossing ink onto watercolour cardstock. Next, cover this with WOW! Metallic Gold Rich superfine embossing powder.

Heat set the powder ready to watercolour the floral in. For this card, I used the Altenew Artist Watercolour 24 pan set using a wet on wet technique. To create variation in the petal leaves, I used a pink-red at the base of the floral and then a yellow towards the tip. The wet on wet technique will allow the colours to blend.

The same process was used to create the variation in the leaves as well.

After the watercolour process is complete, the next part is to cut the panel in half. Many struggle to do this but you can get two cards out of one painting this way! Trim each panel down so they are 1/2″ smaller than an A2 card base.

Foam mount each panel onto a card base made out of Hero Hues Azalea cardstock. for the sentiments, heat emboss sentiments from the stamp set in WOW! Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder onto black cardstock.

Fussy cut the sentiments out and foam mount onto the card. To finish the cards off, add a selection of gold sequins scattering them around the card.
