WOW! embossing powder has some new trios out and you’re gonna ‘Toteally’ love this one! (says whilst winking). It is a ‘Toteally Amazing’ colour combination that you’ll want to add to your stash. Ok, enough of the puns, but I just couldn’t resist. So if you’ve not guessed, I’ve created two cards using the fab new Toteally Amazing Trio powder set from WOW! Embossing powder. These two cards are part of the fun blog hop between the Design Team Members from WOW! Embossing powder to celebrate World Cardmaking day!
Card Making Day reminds us that the best gifts come from the heart, and the hands and vision of the people we love, so get out there and try making a card of your own! Nowadays, with the advancements in technology and the rise of the Internet, some people have stopped sending cards altogether. Instead, they send email cards. While there is nothing wrong with this, no one can deny that receiving a beautiful card feels a lot nicer. This is especially the case when the other person has gone to the effort of making the card!
History of World Cardmaking Day
Cards have played an important role in social circles for hundreds of years, playing a role as a thoughtful gift all the way to a necessary part of proper etiquette. Consider, if you will, the calling card of the Victorian era, a term that has become so ubiquitous that the signature element of a bomb-maker or a criminal is said to be their ‘calling card’.
A small piece of paper bearing one’s name and often a decoration of some kind, the calling card (Also known as a visiting card) was presented to the servants of a household that it might be delivered to the masters of the house to announce visitors. It was this era of propriety that also developed the concept of a dance card, a card specifically carried by women to fill out with the names of the men they intended to dance with that evening. After all, with so many interested parties it just made sense to keep track of them so that you could, in earnest, indicate that your dance card was full and thus politely decline an interested suitor
Calling Cards, Dance Cards, Business Cards, Greeting Cards, RSVP Cards, there are a million and more types of cards and could there be anything more exciting than learning to make your own? Card Making Day encourages you to do just that.

PRODUCED AS PART OF MY DESIGN-TEAM WORK FOR WOW! Embossing powder - SEE END OF POST FOR MORE DETAILS
Toteally terrific world cardmaking day: card 1
For this first card, use the direct to paper method to add WOW! clear ultra slow drying embossing ink to 3 panels of white cardstock. Next, cover each panel with a different embossing powder from the Toteally Amazing Trio: The Real Teal, Iced Teal and Gilded.

Heat set these panels with your WOW! Dual Speed heat gun. To get a more intense and smooth look to the embossing, repeat this to add several layers of embossing powder. Next, use Catherine Pooler Nested Stitched Heart dies to die cut 3 consecutive hearts out of the panels.
Foam mount the 3 hearts on top of one another and add these to a white card panel that is trimmed to 1/4 smaller than your card base. For the sentiment, heat emboss ‘For you my friend’ from the WOW! Paper Hugs stamp set in WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder on to black card. Trim this down and add to the centre of the hearts.

Lastly, embellish with Lucy’s Cards Sprinkles: Big Dots sequins to embellish the card.
Toteally terrific world cardmaking day: card 2
For this second card, depending on how big your previous heat embossed panels from card 1 were, trim 1/4 inch strips of each embossing powder. You can always make some more heat embossed card to use if needed.

Next, add foam strips to the back of each strip and add these horizontally to a card panel, alternating between the three powder colours. Once full, add a white layered die cut using the Catherine Pooler Thanks word die, adding with liquid adhesive to the front of the cad.
Add a secondary sentiment from the Catherine Pooler ‘One Liner Sentiment’s to card, having heat embossed this in white onto black card. Again, finish this card off by embellishing with Lucy’s cards Starlight Sequin mix.
