Three Fun Foiled Frames

I wanted to show a fun way to add foils to you cards today, but I wanted to find three different ways to do it so there should be at least one technique out there for you! These three fun foiled frames use 3 beautiful colours of Fab Foils, and it’s hard to choose which is my favourite. I think I’ll have to go for Blush, but they are all fabulous!!

Three fun foiled frames

Three fun foiled frames: Bonding powder

Start off by drawing a rough semi-circle offset to one side on a white card panel. Next, using your mixed media brush go over this line and the cover with bonding powder.

Use your dual speed heat gun to melt the powder and it will be sticky/tacky for a few minutes. Whilst it is tacky, place a piece of Copper Fab Foil over it and burnish it down. Peel the foil off and it will have transferred to your wreath.

For the rest of the card, stamp a selection of the small stamps from the Autumn Blessings Catherine Pooler stamp set in Eucalyptus and Icing on the Cake ink. Fussy cut this out and foam mount onto the card. In addition, stamp and heat emboss in white onto black card a sentiment.

Once cut out add this to the front of the card. Lastly, add a few clear nuvo drops to finish the wreath off.

Three fun foiled frames: Toner Sheets

For this card, you need toner adhesive sheets and a hot foil machine. Select two nesting square dies to create a frame and tape these together. Die-cut this frame out of the toner sheet.

Next, turn on your Minc machine or laminator to warm up. Cut down a piece of Blush Fab Foil, large enough to cover the frame. Place this over the top of your die-cut toner frame, with the pretty side of the foil to you sat over the toner frame. Place this in a carrier sheet and run through your hot foil machine. Then once out, peel and reveal!

Place the foiled frame offset to one side onto a white card panel, trimming off any excess overhang. Next, use the Hero Arts Snowy Town stamp set to stamp a
winter scene inside the frame. The houses were stamped in Icing on the cake and Sand Castle Catherine Pooler inks. The lake was stamped in Suede Shoes and Juniper Mist.

In addition, stamp and heat emboss in white onto black card a sentiment. Lastly, add a few clear nuvo drops to finish the card off.

Three fun foiled frames: Foam Adhesive strips

Before we foil, we need to create the ink blended background. Draw a diamond onto a white card panel and mask this area off. In addition, mask off a horizon line. Ink blend Catherine Pooler It’s A boy and Suede Shoes ink with blending brushes for the sky. For the grass, ink blend Garden Party Catherine Pooler ink.

After the ink blending, remove the masks and you’re ready to foil. For this, you need foam adhesive strips and I’m using the think Darice Foam strips. Position a strip on each side of the diamond to create a frame. Next, remove the release paper on the strips to reveal the adhesive and position some Rose Gold Fab Foil over the top. Burnish this down and then peal to reveal.

For the rest of the card, stamp in Black Jack Catherine Pooler ink the house from the Hero Arts ‘Happy Autumn Forest’ stamp set and colour this in with pencils. Once coloured, cut out using the coordinating dies. Foam mount the house onto the front along with a heat embossed sentiment from the stamp set. Lastly, add a few clear nuvo drops to finish the card off.
