Step up your dry embossing – Altenew Touch of Whimsy Video Hop

Are you loving the 3D embossing folders as much as me? Well, I’m showing you how to step up your dry embossing in this fun video hop. I’ve got two very easy techniques to use with your embossing folders, taking your cards up a notch.

These techniques can be used with any embossing folders you have, so rummage through your craft stash, grab a folder and craft along with me!

This hop is being hosted over on YouTube – to enter the giveaway, head over to my YouTube to comment and hop along!

Step up your dry embossing: technique 1

This first card using the Enchanting Vines 3D embossing folder from Altenew. I ran this through my die-cutting machine with a piece of Tranquil Teal cardstock.

Step up your dry embossing

To bring out the embossed design more, use a foam ink blending tool and blend metallic gold pigment ink gently onto the card. This will blend onto the raised areas adding a soft highlight. Try not to press down to hard.

To turn this into a card, cut out a small panel in the middle and foam mount the remaining onto a white cardbase. Next, add a layered die-cut ‘happy’ using the Fine Alphabet dies and add a heat embossed sentiment from the Birthday builder stamp set

Lastly, embellish with a few white Nuvo drops.

Step up your dry embossing: technique 2

For this second card, we will step up the card panel before we dry emboss it. Use a selection of blues from the Lapis Lazuli ink set, create an ombre ink blended panel. Next, run this through your die-cutting machine with Folk Art Motif 3D embossing folder

Step up your dry embossing

Again, to bring out the design more by adding white pigment ink highlights using a blending tool again. Trim this down and foam mount onto a card base.

This card was finished off with a white ‘Happy’ die cut and another embossed sentiment from the Birthday builder stamp set. Again, the card was embellished with white Nuvo drops.
