Today’s card is very easy to make, so if you are new to card making this is a perfect card to start out with. The card uses the versatile stamp set Positive Thoughts, which could with two sketch circles that are great for creating abstract cards. What’s more, I paired them with embossing glitter and sequins to create a sparkling circles birthday card!

Sparkling circles birthday card - creating the background
To start, stamp the large sketchy circle from the Positive Thoughts stamp onto Wild Lilac Cardstock from Gina K Designs in WOW! clear ultra slow drying embossing ink. Stamp additional circles onto the background panel, using both the large and small circles, making sure you overlap for a more abstract appearance.

Next, when you’re happy with the background pattern, cover with Singing in the Rain Embossing Glitter from WOW! embossing powder and heat set with your dual speed heat gun. It is best to heat from beneath the card when using an embossing glitter so it does not blow the glitter off before it has heat set.

Sparkling circles birthday card - adding depth of the background
When you’re ready, ink blend on Royal Treatment Catherine Pooler Ink onto the edge of the card panel with ink blending brushes. Make sure you lighten up the ink coverage as you move inwards from the edge for a graduated and halo effect.

For the sentiment, heat embossed the ‘Wishing you the happiest of birthday’s in Opaque Bright White embossing powder from WOW! onto black cardstock. Next, fussy cut the sentiment out, close to the shape and foam mount this inside one of the circles.

Adhere the heat embossed and ink blended panel onto a white card base – you could add fun foam behind this for added dimension. Lastly, embellish the card with a variety of sizes of silver sequins to finish the card off.
