Say thanks with a bunch of tulips

Sometimes you just can’t send a real bunch of flowers to say thank you, they’re just too far across the world to do that. But of course, when it comes to cardmaking you can say thanks with a bunch of tulips in no time, with only the cost of a stamp! This card features the elegant Tulip digital stamp from Sunshine & Bee Designs, which you can alter to any size you wish. For this card, I went with the black outline- but if you prefer for no-line colouring, just print the pale grey version.

Say thanks with a bunch of tulips

Colouring the bunch of tulips

For the stems, I used two greens: 41 Light Green and 400 Marine Green. I only added Marine Green to underneath the tulip heads and down the edge of the stems to create dimension. After the tulips were completely coloured in, these were fussy cut-out.

Print out the Elegant Tulip digital stamp out onto Bristol Smooth Cardstock. Next start colouring the tulips in with Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers. For the tulips, I started off with the darkest colour in the shadow areas – this colour is 35 Deep Blue.

After I had established the shadow areas, I then used  37 Cornflour blue to blend this colour out slight and to add definition. lastly, I used 3030 Shadow mauve, to add in the highlights and blend into the Cornflour blue.

Creating the background

To create the background panel, use a blending tool to blend a selection of teals onto a mint piece of cardstock. Start off adding Catherine Pooler Mint To Be ink tow thirds of the way up the panel. Next, blend Skylight Catherine Pooler Ink up to half of the panel blending with Mint To Be. Lastly, add Daydream Catherine Pooler Ink to the bottom third blending this out.

For a little more interest, use a metallic watercolour set to add metallic paint splatter in different golds to the background. Once the background is dry, add the panel to a card base and foam mount the tulips onto the front. Lastly, add a layered thanks die-cut as a sentiment to finish the card off.
