Relaxing floral watercoloring with new Altenew Watercolour Brushes – Altenew Ultimate Watercolor Lovers Blog Hop + Giveaway

I love to watercolour florals, and the new Altenew Watercolor Colouring book has reminded me just how much! This book has a stunning collection of florals that you love and know from Altenew in both black and grey outlines. So if you like to no-line watercolour, you’re covered as well! This relaxing floral watercoloring was a great way to pass time whilst catching up on my tv series. I’ve also used the new Altenew Watercolour brushes, so check out the video for my look at these brushes.

I chose a beautiful bloom from the Altenew Watercolor Colouring book, and went for the black outline as I wasn’t going for the no-line colouring look though the light option is there for you if you do!

Hopefully, you should have arrived from the lovely Lilith Eeckels blog. However, you can start at the beginning of the hop over at Altenew Card Blog.

Make sure you check out the end of the post for more details on the hop, along with your next stop!

Products are available to buy from 02/11/2021 at 12:01 am EST over at Altenew.com

Relaxing floral watercoloring: painting the bloom

To paint the floral in, I used my Altenew Watercolour 36 pan set along with the new Detailed Watercolour Brushes. For the flower, I painted with the Midnight Violet shade of purple, adding the paint to the base of the petal and drawing the colour out with clean colour water.

To create a clean look, ensure you allow the petal to dry before you paint the next petal adjacent to it. Whilst it is drying, paint another petal further away. The detailed brushes are perfect for painting this flower as they can get in the nooks and crannies to add depth!

Relaxing floral watercoloring: turning it into a card!

For the leaves, I used two shades of green in Evergreen and Forest Green to add variation, using the darker shade where shadows fall. Once the painting was dry, I used my white gel pen to add some detail to the middle of the flower and then fussy cut it out with scissors.

To assemble this into a card, I add some Altenew Embossing paste through the Altenew Sphere stencil onto yellow cardstock. The floral was foam mounted on top and then a layered black die-cut using the Altenew Fancy Hello was added as a sentiment. Lastly, I finished the card off with a few white drops to embellish the card.
