It is finally April, and hopefully, you are all still well and healthy, as well as staying home where possible. This month’s Challenge theme for WOW! embossing Powder in the Facebook group is rainbows, and of course, these colour images bring so much colour at a time like now. For my Design team inspiration, I created a Rainbow smudged background to add a heat embossed die-cut embellishment over the top.
Don’t forget, every month WOW! Embossing Powder has a new challenge in their Facebook group with a chance to win a £15/$15 gift card to their shop!

creating the Rainbow smudged background
For this card, I suggest using heavyweight cardstock as we will be applying embellishment mousse over the top. The heavier weight the cardstock, the less warping will occur.
To start, use a spatula and apply a small amount of Nuvo embellishment mousse onto a glass mat. The first colour used here is French Rose. Make sure you work the mousse with your spatula so it is a nice soft consistency to spread. Apply this colour to one corner of the card.

Now, I didn’t have an orange coloured mousse in my stash, so I mixed a little of Lemon Sorbet with French rose on my mat before adding a smudge onto the card. Make sure you overlap the smudges for a more consistent look. The next colour added was pure Lemon Robert. After this, I added a mix of Lemon Sorbet and Aloe Vera, before adding a smudge of pure Aloe Vera. The last two colours to add were Cornflower Blue and Royal Aubergine.
Remember to set this to one side to dry, whilst working on the rest of the card.

Creating the embossed embellishment
For the embossed embellishment, die-cut the Altenew Fine Bouquet die from scrap card 3 times and layer up using Gina K Connect glue. In addition, die-cut one more Fine Bouquet from dark grey card stock to put to one side.
Next, smoosh your WOW! clear ultra slow drying embossing pad over the die cut and cover with Metallic Gold Rich Embossing powder. Heat set this with your dual speed heat gun and repeat 2-3 times, adding embossing powder for a smoother and more dimensional look.

For the sentiment, heat emboss in WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder ‘You are one awesome person’ from Altenew Thinking of You stamp set onto black card. Once heat-set, trim these down into thin strips.

Assembling the card
To assemble the card, foam mount the card panel onto a card base made out of SlateCardstock from Gina K Designs. Next, adhere the grey Fine Bouquet die-cut onto the front of the card with Connect glue. Once dry, then adhere the embossed die-cut, offset slightly so the grey die-cut forms a shadow. This will help the embossed die-cut stand out from the colour background more.

With the addition of 3d Foam squares, adhere the sentiment to the front of the card. Lastly, embellish the card with a few silver mirror sequin discs using Connect glue.
