Pops of Spring – Color combos with heat embossing

This year I’m going to focus on heat embossing colouring combinations with my WOW! reels post. For my first post, I wanted to do a bright cheerful colour combination, and allow we’re still in winter, I’m starting to wish spring was here. So I created a Spring floral colour combination with three fun embossing powders. This will become a series of color combos with heat embossing, featuring once a month so keep an eye out!

Color combos with heat embossing: Spring florals card 1

To create these three cards first, we need to create three embossing panels to die cut from. Cover a piece of white card with embossing ink and cover with A Touch of Lemon Embossing glitter

As this is an embossing glitter, heat set the panel from beneath. Next, repeat this again but this time use Pinkish which again is another embossing glitter. Lastly, for the third panel cover this with Sea Mist embossing powder and heat set.

Once all three panels are heat set, die-cut each panel with the Spring Showers background die. For this first card, use the negative of the die-cut to position the yellow and pink flowers onto a white card base. Fill in all the leaves using the die-cuts from the Sea Mist panel.

To finish this card, heat emboss a sentiment in Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder from the Mix That Font stamp and foam mount onto the card. Lastly, embellish with gold matt sequins.

For this second card, I used the flowers to create a floral cascade bursting from the card. Start off by adding the flowers to a white card panel trimmed down to 1/2 inch smaller than the card base. Use foam pads with different depths of dimension for added interest.

Make sure you add the leaves around the flowers, tucking these in and using foam pads for these as well to create variation.

Again, add another heat embossed sentiment to the front of the card and embellish with matt gold sequins.

For this last card, I used three of the blue flowers to create a focal point. Before adding the flowers to a card panel, I wanted to bring in the yellow colour but I had used all my yellow embossed pieces. Instead, I ink blended a soft halo background with Chiffon ink.

The flowers were foam mounted onto the front and a selection of pink leaves was glued to the front.

Again this card was then finished with another heat embossed sentiment and matt gold sequins.
