Today’s video shows you how easy pattern heat embossing is. Whether you decided to do a full background like I will do today, or whether you use a small pattern within your design, it can create beautiful heat embossed interest to any project.

Pattern heat embossing: Creating the background
The stamp set I’m using is the Altenew Peace Low Joy stamp set, and for the background, I’m using the star insert stamp. As I want to emboss the whole background, I find it a useful idea to adhere a makeshift hand to the back of the card panel with some repositionable tape. This gives me something to use to pick up the panel without getting my fingers all over the background.

Start stamping the same pattern all the way up the panel and once complete, make sure you go back in and fill in any gaps along the edge – again this helps to make the panel look more professional in there are no obvious gaps.
Once complete, cover the panel in Silver Pearl embossing powder. As you have added that makeshift handle, you can easily pick up your panel to apply the powder and then also heat set it.

Pattern heat embossing: Stepping the background up a notch
To step the background up a notch, start applying Aquatini ink from Catherine Pooler designs using a blending tool at the bottom of the card, and using a circular motion, bring the colour up the card two-thirds of the way.

To add the embossing glitter, smoosh your clear ultra slow drying embossing pad down onto the die-cut and cover with Sea glass embossing glitter and melt the powder with your heat gun. Now, repeat this several times to add 2-3 layers of the embossing glitter.
To allow the sentiment to stand out from the background, use my Samba Catherine Pooler ink to add colour to a strip of white card before die-cutting ‘Thanks’ from it once more. Then, adhere this to the bottom of the layered sentiment, but offset to create a shadow.

Pattern heat embossing: Finishing the card off
Next, heat emboss in white a secondary sentiment onto a matching piece of card. The sentiment and star were foam mounted onto the card panel. To add a little embellishment and to bring out the coral colour more, add a few Jewels from Lucy’s card in a coral colour and adhered these down with Gina K Connect glue.
