One die – three card designs

This die from Pink Fresh Studio is stunning and is so easy to use in a combination of card designs to really get your money worth out of it. I have 3 for you today, but there are so many more that you’ll have a whole stack in your stash ready to send out. What’s more, I have paired it with embossing paste and liquid watercolours for added interest or used it to create a gorgeous wedding card with a glittering shaker element. So, find out how with one die – three card designs can be easily created.

one die - three card designs

Card 1 - Shaker card

For the first card, we are going to use the Beautiful Blooms die from Pink Fresh Studio to create a shaker window. As this die has many open elements, it is perfect for this type of card. The die was cut out of a white card panel measure at 4.75″ x 6.75 (for a 5×7″ card base) as well as mat rose gold foil card by Tonic Studios. The outline from the rose gold was kept along with the white panel. Keep the white outline floral as this can be used in card 3.

Adhere a piece of clear acetate behind the white card panel, covering the window element. Next, adhere the rose gold outline die cut to the front of the card panel slotting it into the window element using small dabs of Gina K Connect glue.

On a separate piece of white card, smaller than the initial card panel, apply ink behind the areas of the floral die. Use blending brushes to apply the colour lightly, adding pink behind the flower (It’s a Girl and Rose Petals ink by Catherine Pooler designs) and green behind the leaves (Eucalyptus ink by Catherine Pooler designs)

Apply foam tape to the back of the card panel, creating an enclosed space for the shaker elements. Make sure there are no gaps in the foam tape so none of the shaker elements will escape.

Apply a selection of clear shaker elements inside the window, and then apply the inked panel to the back. Adhere the whole shaker panel down onto a kraft 5×7″ card base. To finish the card, add a heat embossed sentiment with WOW! Platinum Embossing powder, using sentiments from the Altenew Cake Lover stamp set.

Card 2 - foam dimension die cut

For the second card, die cut the Altenew Watercolor stripes die out of thin acetate sheet to create a stencil. Mix Candy Apply Liquid Watercolour from Pink Fresh Studio with Altenew embossing paste. Create three shades of pink for an ombre look.

With your die cut stencil adhere over to a card panel, apply the paste with a palette knife, blending the shades to create an ombre look. Set this to one side to dry.

To work on the die cut, die cut the Beautiful Blooms die out of kraft card and white fun foam. Adhere the Kraft card die cut onto the white fun foam die cut with Gina K Connect Glue. Fun foam is a great quick way to add dimension to your die cuts.

Once the card panel is dry, foam mount the panel onto a Kraft card base and adhere the foam mounted die cut onto the front using liquid glue over the textured surface.  Lastly, add a heat embossed sentiment using the Altenew Birthday Builder stamp set with WOW! Platinum Embossing powder and a few silver sequins as a finishing touch.

Card 3 - layered die cut diemension

For this last card, we can use the leftover paste from card 2 to create an abstract background, apply the paste in downward strokes over a white card panel moving down the card in a diagonal as you go. Set this to one side to dry.

Remember the leftover white die cut from the shaker card? Well, we can use it on this card, with an additional two white Beautiful Blooms die cuts. Layer the die cuts up using liquid glue to create dimension – a great alternative if you don’t have fun foam for dimension.

Adhere the layered die cut over the embossing paste to create a striking monochromatic card. Add a heat embossed sentiment from the Altenew Reason to Smile stamp set with WOW! Platinum Embossing powder, along with a few silver quins to finish the card off.
