Today I’m showing you how mixing old stamps with new styles that come out means you can get more from your supplies. The main stamps came out in an Altenew Release for last Christmas, but to stretch the stamp further I’ve combined it with a recently released stencil to add a modern twist to the card. This Altenew stamp set is still available to purchase, so even if you’ve not got it you can still pick a set up and craft away!

mixing old stamps with new styles: creating with older stamps
Start off by stamping 3 of the ornaments from the Altenew Peace, love, and Joy stamp set onto white card in embossing ink. Next, cover these with a selection of embossing powders. Here I used a WOW! Metallic gold and a WOW! Cranberry Sparkle embossing glitter.

Once heat-set, either use the coordinating dies to cut the images out or fussy cut out with scissors. Put these to one side whilst we work on the background.

mixing old stamps with new styles: creating the background
For the background, trim a piece of Cherry Red Gina K Designs cardstock to 5.5″ x 4.25″. Position the Altenew Sphere stencil over the panel and with a spatula, apply Altenew Embossing Paste over the stencil. Once covered, remove the stencil, setting the background to one side to dry and clean your stencil.

Once the panel is dry, add this to a matching card base. Next, add black ribbon the back of each ornament and foam mount these onto the front at varying dimension and height on the card for added interest.

mixing old stamps with new styles: finishing the card off
For the sentiment, heat emboss the sentiment from the stamp set onto back card in Gold embossing powder. Trim this down and foam mount onto the front of the card offset to one side.

Lastly, add a few sequins scattered around the card to embellish.
