Today, I’m so happy to be taking part in the Papercrafters unite against racism YouTube hop. The goal of this hop is to come together to stand behind our crafty sisters and brothers of colour not just in the art industry, but also to show our support in the never-ending fight for equality all over the world. Hopefully, you will be introduced to new crafters in the industry highlighting them within our industry. I am looking forward to finding new crafters too and widen my exposure to new crafters as well.
Creating the masked stamping
Start off by die-cutting a rectangle using Waffle flower A2 layering dies out of Inkadinkadoo masking paper. Now position this onto a white card panel using your T-ruler to line this up straight.

For this card, we’re going to use the Altenew ruffled flowers stamp set which is a layering stamp. Now, to work out the position, take the outline layer and position that over the panel until you’re happy with the position. Next, place the first layer of the florals down over the outline layer, close your MISTI door and remove the outline layer. For this first layer on this floral, stamp this in Catherine Pooler Sugared Lavender ink. The second cluster of florals was stamped in Catherine Pooler Pink Champagne ink.

Building up the layers
Repeat this for the remaining florals around the masked area and then move onto the second layer of the stamps. For these, you don’t need the outline layer to align the second layer as you can easily align these up over the stamped layer. So for the purple flowers, use Catherine Pooler A Queen For A Day ink and for the pink florals use Catherine Pooler Sangria ink.

To add a little more interest to the florals, stamp the outline layers in WOW! Clear ultra slow drying embossing ink. Next, cover this with WOW! Metallic Gold Rich Pale embossing powder.
I would advise you removing the masking paper before you heat set, as the heat gun may affect the adhesive on the masking paper. So after the first outline is heat-set, reposition the masking paper back onto the card, and repeating inking and covering with embossing powder before heat setting.

Finishing the card off
When you’ve finished you have a lovely decorative floral frame around a white rectangle space. For the sentiment, heat emboss ‘You can go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending’ from the Altenew Reason to Smile stamp set. This sentiment seemed quite appropriate, as a lot of us may feel we have to start where we are as we can’t change what has already happened, but we can educate ourselves and change the outcome.

So, this was stamped onto black card and heat set with WOW! Opaque Bright white embossing powder. Next, trim this down and foam mount onto the front of the card. The whole panel was added to a white card base and finish off Plum Sequin mix from Lucy’s cards.
