Many ways to use heat embossing! WOW! Embossing Powder July 2022 release

There is a fabulous new release from WOW! Embossing Powder including some new trios and stencils. I’ve got lots of inspiration using the new products and I’m showing you many ways to use heat embossing as well as stencils. This post and projects focus on a couple of the products from the new release, but if you’re reading this before Wednesday the 27th of July, then make sure you check out Instagram on that day for a fun hop! The team will be showcasing many ideas using all the products in the new release. So let’s get started!

Colouring backgrounds with embossing powders

Stamp the Making Waves background stamp in clear embossing ink. Next, we’re going to colour the background using the new Time Travellers Trio. Using the Primary Sunbeam from the trio, cover the top third of the background with the power.

Next, cover the middle third with Primary Royal Purple from the trio and then cover the last third with Opaque Primary Fossil from the trio. Heat set this and you’ve coloured your background!

This card was finished using the Hey There die set, and the inner letters were coloured with the Opaque Primary Fossil embossing powder. lastly, a few Nuvo drops in Liquid Mercury were added.

Layering your blending

This card layers blending to add interest for a fun abstract style card. Using a blending brush, apply Kitsch Flamingo Distress oxide ink to a card panel – this does not need to be perfect. Next, add Villainous position to the panel in another area allowing it to overlap.

Now position the All Squared Up stencil onto the panel, and ink blend either of the two colours through this. Keep moving and rotating the stencil and layer up your ink blending to give interest and dimension.

Add more interest by splattering metallic watercolour paint over the top. To finish this card, add sentiment using the Love & Hugs Fab Foilers set with Blush Fab Foil. Lastly, added a few clear Nuvo drops to embellish the card.

Die-cut embossed panels to create florals

For this card, start off by heat embossing 3 white card panels with the Time Travellers Trio. Do this by covering the panel with clear embossing ink and the cover with Primary Sunbeam, Primary Royal Purple, and Opaque Primary Fossil and heat set.

Next, using the Layered Floral Elements die set, die-cut a variety of florals and leaves out of the three panels. Before assembling the card, dry emboss a white card panel with the Loops embossing folder. Add the florals on top with foam pads for dimension.

Try to balance the colours out by using a 50:30:20 ratio of the colours. Finish the card off by adding a sentiment using the Sweet Sentiments Fab Foilers in Gold Fab Foil and add some gold sequins to embellish.

Simple ink blending with stecils

Position the All Squared Up stencil over a white card panel and using an ink blending brush, ink blend Speckled Egg Distress Oxide towards one corner of the panel. Then ink blend Salvaged Patina out from this from the corner to create a radiating effect.

Lastly, finish the top of the panel off by ink blending Prized Ribbon. Trim this panel down and add this to a white card base. For the sentiment, hot foil one of the black Sweet Sentiments in Teal Fab Foil and trim these down.

Adhere the sentiments onto the front of the card with foam pads to add dimension and then finish by embellishing the card with various coloured Nuvo drops.

Adding embossin powders with embossing paste

This is such a fun super simple mixed media card. Using a spatula, add a smudge of embossing paste to the top of a card panel. Cover this with Primary Sunbeam embossing powder from the Time Traveller trio. Do not heat set yet.

Repeat adding another smudge underneath and cover this with Primary Royal Purple and add one more smudge, and cover with Opaque Primary Fossil powder. You can either leave this panel and let the embossing paste dry before the heat setting. Or you can heat set whilst it is wet, it will bubble but this will flatten.

To finish this card off, add 3 sentiment strips using the Sweet Sentiments Fab Foilers in Gold Fab Foil.

Roate you stencil for a new look

Don’t forget to rotate your stencils to get more looks. Rotate the All Squared Up stencil on a piece of Nautical hero arts. Using a spatula, apply Transfer Duo Gel and allow this to dry. When it is dry, run it through a Minc machine with Blush FabFoil or if you’re using the Duo gel, you can run this through your die-cutting machine.

This has created a great background to add a focal element on. The Folk Garden Hot Foil plate was foiled onto a variety of pink cardstock and this was die-cut using the coordinating die.  Add this to the front with foam pads to add interest.

A sentiment was added and this use the leftover foil waste in blush fab foil which was foiled onto a Blank Fab Foiler set. This was then foiled once more with White Fab Foiler to turn the sentiment from black to white.
