Sometimes we can get stuck in a rut with our stencils and just think of using one technique with them. But when you get a layering stencil you can do so much more! Today I’m sharing how I used the Altenew Mandala Builder stencil set and add interest to layering stencils with a few different techniques. So let’s get started!

Add interest to layering stencils: inking and heat embossing
Start off by applying the first layer of the Altenew Mandala Builder stencil set onto a white card panel and using a blending brushes along with Juniper Mist Catherine Pooler ink blend over the stencil. Allow the ink to dry before moving onto the next layer.

Position the second stencil layer over the top, aligning with the first layer following the guide on the packaging. Smoosh your clear embossing ink pad down over the stencil and then cover with WOW! Metallic Gold Rich pale embossing powder. Heat set with your heat gun.

Add interest to layering stencils: dimension and glitter
For the third layer, position the stencil over the top following the alignment guide and use a spatula to apply Altenew Embossing Paste over the top. Remove the stencil and before leaving to dry, cover this with WOW! Mola Mola Earth Sparkles glitter to add more detail.

Once the panel is dry, adhere to a white card base. For the sentiment, the ‘Hello’ from the Altenew Floral Frame stamp set. Heat emboss this in gold and using a nesting circle die to cut this out.

Lastly, foam mount the sentiment onto the card to finish this card off.
