Heat embossing wooden embellishments!

I’m featuring the new trio of embossing powders inspired by the fabulous Jo Herbert – Cocktail Party. This fun and the happy trio is inspired by some Australian Cocktails. Now if they taste as good as the colours look, then I bet I’d love them! I’ve used them to colour some wooden pieces which I used to decorate and embellish my card. The easiest way to do this is by using the mixed media tool adding ink to the wooden surface. Also, head over to Instagram to catch the reels on this video!. So let’s get started.

how to heat embossing on wooden embellishments

Start off by brushing a wooden leaf with the WOW! Mix media brush tool. These wooden leaves come from Papermania / docrafts. Next, cover with a layer of embossing powder.

Use your dual speed heat gun to melt the powder and before it has a chance to cool, dip the wooden leaf back into the same colour of powder and heat once more. Keep doing this until you’re happy with the level of colour you have built up.

heat embossing on wooden embellishments: assembling the card

For this card, I used all three powders: Blue Diamond, Midori Splice and Fruit Tingle. With a white slimline card base, stamp a sentiment from the Thank You Sentiment stamp set in black ink.

Next, adhere the embossed leaves onto the card base with liquid adhesive to ensure they stay put. Lastly, embellish with clear sequin discs, scattered around the design.

p.s. I’m speaking at the CardMaker Success Summit on 17th July featuring two fabulous stenciled cards. You’re invited! Get all the details and grab your free ticket HERE!
