You now I love to heat emboss, I use it nearly on every card I make. I feel heat embossing just takes a card up a notch and it never tires watching that powder melt and the shine come through. Although I love to heat emboss, I’ve never really tried heat embossing with layering stamps. Having taken the Altenew Impressive Heat Embossing class on Altenew Academy, the class spurred me on to do this. So I decided, why not create layered metallic flowers?! I absolutely love how they turned out, so let’s get started!

Heat embossing with layering stamps: creating the flowers
Place the first layer of the two large florals from Altenew ‘Life Is Awesome’ stamp set and stamp these onto white card with embossing ink. Cover the first layer with metallic embossing powder. For these flowers, I created two of each colour combination with either WOW! Metallic Gold or Metallic Copper for the first layer.

Once heat-set, stamp and emboss the second layer with either Metallic Copper or Metallic Platinum embossing powder. Don’t forget the stamp packing has the diagram to help align your stamps with layering them up. The third layers are heat embossed in either Metallic Platinum or Metallic Gold depending on the previous layers. The first and final layer on all three flowers was in a darker colour – WOW! Oiled slate from the Dockside Trio of embossing powders.

Either fussy cut out the flower or use coordinating dies to die-cut the flowers out.
Heat embossing with layering stamps: creating the composition
Partially stamp the Dainty Swiss Dot background stamp in Altenew Iceberg ink onto white card. With Versafine Onyx ink, stamp a selection of the leaves onto the card. You may wish to position the flowers over the corner of the card to decide where to stamp the leaves. Place two strips of the Altenew Delicate Stripes Washi Tape in one corner to ground the flowers to the card.

Before foam mounting the flowers onto the card, add a few splatters of black using the Altenew Jet Black Ink Spray. In addition, stamp a sentiment from the Dainty Swiss Dot stamp set onto the front. After foam mounting the flowers on, embellish the card with a variety of colour coordinating sequins, scattering around the flowers.

I loved heat embossing these layered flowers; the heat embossing has given the flowers a lot of dimension, as though they’re puffy stickers. I picked up many tips in the Impressive Heat Embossing class, but this was far the best for me as I usually only stamp my layer images. I shall definitely use this again!
