When someone says emboss resist, you are more likely to think of inks and ink blending. But there is so much more that we can use with emboss resist. Today I’m showing you one medium you can use, but there are so many different media you can use. Raid your stash and get creative!

Emboss resist with watercolours: rainbow
Start off by heat emboss the Diamond Tile background stamp in embossing ink onto a piece of Distress Watercolour cardstock. Cover this with Bubbalicious embossing powder from the Pink-a-licious Trio.

Once heat-set, use a clean brush to add clean water across the whole panel. With a round brush, start to drop watercolour colours into the background in a rainbow manner. Here I used liquid watercolour pens from Altenew and I used the following colours: Fresh lemon, Sunkissed, Limeade, Sea Breeze, Rubelite, Midnight Violet, Autumn Blaze.
The heat embossing will resist the watercolour, so as it dries, the watercolour will dry off the embossing. Trim this panel down and add a die-cut sentiment using the Hey There die set with white and Gold Mirror cardstock. This card was finished with Happy Circles Sprinkles from Lucy’s cards.

Emboss resist with watercolours: shades of blue
This card shows you an alternative colour scheme, more of a unisex card. Heat emboss the Diamond Tiles background stamp in Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder.

Again, once heat set, add clean water to the background before adding in the following colours: Turquoise, Sea Breeze, Dusk, Desert Night and Midnight Violet. Adding the colours to a wet background allows the colours to blend and move, creating a soft variation to the background.
Again this card was finished with another sentiment using the Hey There die set, where I used the outline die-cut leftover from the previous card to make this sentiment. Gold sequin discs were added to embellish the card.
