Of course, emboss resist is one of my favourite technique to use with my cards, so of course, I had to make emboss resist Christmas Cards with the new Catherine Pooler release. The Caroling Sentiments stamp & die set to make 4 fun colourful cards, ready to post out this holiday season. So let’s get started!

Emboss resist Christmas cards - Falalala lalalala
Place a piece of green card into your MISTI platform and align the row of Trees from the Caroling Sentiments stamp set at the top of the card. Stamp this in WOW! Clear ultra slow drying embossing ink. Shift the card stock up and to one side to then stamp the row again below offset to one side.
Repeat stamping the row until the background is full and cover with Metallic Rich Gold embossing powder before heat setting. For the emboss resist, use an ink blending tool, blend Eucalyptus Catherine Pooler ink around the edge of the card leaving the middle free from ink.
Next ink blend Spruce Catherine Pooler ink, not bringing this colour as far into the middle of the card, and lastly add Deck the Halls Catherine Pooler ink around the edges. Buff the heat embossing ink with a dry cloth to remove excess ink.
Stamp the Xmas tree sentiment in the same colour of inks to create an ombre look and die-cut with the coordinating die. Foam mount this onto the card and finish of with sequins from Mistletoe sequin mix to embellish the card.
Emboss resist Christmas cards - Presents galore!
For this card, use an acrylic block to stamp the row of presents diagonally across a red piece of cardstock. Once the panel is full, cover this with Metallic Copper embossing powder and heat set.
For this background, ink blend Rouge, Peppermint Scrub and Cranberry Fizz ink at a diagonal up the card. In addition, use these ink colours to also stamp the Present sentiment from the stamp set, mimicking the ombre effect.
Die-cut the present out and foam mount this onto the card panel. Embellish the background with a selection fo sequins from the Mistletoe mix and this cad is finished.
Emboss resist Christmas cards - Winter is here!
For this background, set up a selection of acrylic blocks with the small stamps from the Caroling Sentiment stamps. Start off with stamp the largest stamp (the snowflake) onto a blue card panel. It is best to start with the largest stamp to ensure you have space to stamp it.
Next, fill in the gaps with small stamps and use the small star and dot stamp to fill in the small gaps to complete the background. Cover this with Opaque Bright White embossing powder and heat set.
The ink blending on this card uses Stone Blue, Suede Shoes and Juniper Mist Catherine Pooler ink, blending from the bottom up to the top. Use the same ink colours to stamp the snowman and foam mount this onto the card once die-cut. Embellish with the silver sequins from the Mistletoe Sequin Mix to finish the card.
Emboss resist Christmas cards - Glowing Bauble
This last card uses small stamps again but does not create a full background. Stamp the different sizes stars along with the small dots and create a cluster around the top left corner of the card. This will create a hallo around the bauble sentiment.
Heat emboss this in Metallic Platinum embossing powder. Add ink blending around the embossing to create a halo effect to highlight the focal element of the card. The colours used are Sugared Lavendar, Sangria and Royal Treatment Catherine Pooler ink.
The bauble sentiment was stamped in the same colours of ink and die-cut out with the coordinating die. A bow made out of gold twine was added to the top of the bauble as well as a hanging thread to the back adhering this to the card. To embellish this card, a few additional stars were heat embossed and die-cut before foam mounting onto the card.
