Today I’m showing you an elegant colour scheme for card making, and although it uses grey ink, this helps elevate the card along with the gold and navy colours. You can easily adapt this card design, but I like to keep elegant cards simple with only a few cohesive colours and a metallic embossing powder in there to add a touch of glamour.

Elegant colour scheme for card making: colouring the flowers
Start off by heat embossing the Altenew Cartoon Tulips in embossing ink and heat set with gold embossing powder. For the colouring, I used Altenew Watecolour brush markers and therefore heat emboss this on watercolour cardstock. If you choose a different colouring medium, make sure you cardstock is also right for medium.

Colour in the tulips with Evening Grey watercolour brush marker from the Spring Garden collection. I like to add colour to the base with the marker and then a separate brush that has clear water on it to pull the colour out.

Elegant colour scheme for card making: Bringin the card together
After the tulips have dried, using the coordinating die to cut out the images. Next, die-cut the Watercolor Strips Die out of Nautical Hero Hues cardstock and foam mount this onto a white card base.

To finish the card off, add a sentiment stamped in Juniper Mist ink from the Leaf Canopy stamp set and add it to the front of the card. Also, embellish with some matt gold sequins to tie in with the heat embossing.
