Creative ways to use stitching dies – Spellbinders Die of the Month February

In today’s post, I’m showing you creative ways to use stitching dies – and there is no need to get your needle and thread out! These cards feature the February 2022 Spellbinders Small Die of the Month which you can get as part of the small die of the month club subscription. This means the exclusive die will ship right to your door ready for your to craft. However, you can always wait a month or two later before you can by the die separately on the website without signing up for the kit.

UK Spellbinders Ciub Subscription:

If you live in the UK then there is some great news to be had! The club subscriptions are now shipping from a hub in the UK, which means the cost of postage is dramatically reduced and makes the subscription so much more affordable. Unfortunately, this only applies to the subscription kits, any other product from their website will sip from the US and incur higher postage rates.

The perks of club subscription:

You need to join the club before the 24th of the month to receive that months club item which will ship on the 1st of the next month. You can cancel at any time, and you can also skip a month if you don’t want the design that month – but you need to do this before the 24th of the month. In addition, club members also get extra discounts on store, so make sure you check that out too!

This post was produced as part of design team work with the Spellbinders Club Influencer group where I'm given supplies to use. The information provided is based on my own personal experience - I am not an expert.

creative ways to use stitching dies: background pattern

This card uses the line border stitch die from the February 2022 Spellbinders Small Die of the Month club. Position the die only, without its outline die-cut lines onto a piece of Nautical Hero Hues cardstock and run this through your die-cutting machine.

Reposition the die and repeat this, moving the die up the panel and changing its position horizontally along with the panel as well. Repeat this until two-thirds of the panel is die-cut. Use the Spellbinders Tool’n’one to remove any of the perforations left in.

Adhere this panel onto a Mustard Hero Hues cardstock panel and add it to a white card base. Add a sentiment using the Mini Everyday Sentiments Glimmer hot foil plates in Gold Hot Foil and finish with gold sequins.

creative ways to use stitching dies: layered texture

For this card, use all the dies to cut out the largest oval stitched die from the Oval & Stitched die set from the February 2022 Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Club from Mustard Hero Hues cardstock. Repeat this three times and layer these up with liquid adhesive.

In addition, die-cut the same die shape out of white card, trimming this in half and add this to a Mustard Hero Hues cardstock panel. Adhere the layered die-cut over the top and add the whole panel onto a card base using Nautical Hero Hues cardstock

The sentiments were foiled in Gold Hot Foil onto Nautical Hero Hues cardstock using the Mini Everyday Sentiments Glimmer hot foil plates, which were trimmed down and foam mounted onto the card. Lastly, a few blue sequins embellished the card.

creative ways to use stitching dies: Clean and simple card design

For this card I used the small oval stitched die from the February 2022 Spellbinders Small Die of the Month club kit, cutting this once out ofNautical Hero Hues cardstock and twice out of Mustard Hero Hues cardstock

Cut the mustard ovals in half and link this through the nautical oval before adhering these down onto a white card panel.

Add another foiled sentiment from the Mini Everyday Sentiments Glimmer hot foil plates and once more embellish with blue sequins.

  • Clever ideas for using these new dies. I especially like the way you used the border die for the card you made in the video. It’s always nice to find ways to extend the use of our craft supplies. Clever too the way your design left places to put adhesive. Thanks for sharing!
