Creating with decofoil toner sheets

Have you tried Design Toner Sheets from ThermoWeb? These are so easy to use with a variety of foils and colours and today I have two quick cards show you two ways to use them. As they are clear toner printed acetate sheets they are also great for making a shaker card! What’s more, I show you how to step the shaker card up a notch, so let’s get creating with decofoil Tone Sheets!

The first card uses the toner sheets to create a shaker compartment, but to step it up we will create a see-through shaker window with the shaker elements in the base of the card. The second card uses the toner sheet to create the front of the card to see through into the middle. A secret hidden space is included for a written message inside the card to sit.

creating with decofoil Tone Sheets - Creating a seethrough shaker card!

For this first card, trim a piece of Gina K Ocean Mist Heavyweight cardstock down to make a top folding 5.5″ x 4.25″. In addition, cut a panel in matching card measuring the same size. Next, using a circle die from Hero Arts Infinity Dies, run the card panel and you folded cards base through your die cutting machine with the circle placed towards the top.

The die will cut through the top and second layer of card and leave an impression in the third layer. Run the third layer through once more, repositioning over the impression the die has left in the card. You should now have a card panel and base with a circle die-cut all the way through and lined up with one another.

To make the front more interest, ink blend the edges of the card using blending brushes Juniper Mist along with Daydream Catherine Pooler Inks for a dramatic look to the front panel.

Creating the shaker element

Next, run a sheet of the Floral Sketch Designer Toner Sheet through your Minc Machine or Laminator with Mint Minc Foil. Make sure the foil is facing colour side up and you have it covering the ‘dull’ side of the toner sheet. Now adhere this to the back of the card base over the circle die-cut window. On the back of this, add some foam around the edge, ensuring all edges are closed up to contain the shaker mix. This card uses the Starlight Sequin Mix from Lucy’s cards.

Next, align another piece of the designer tone sheet over the back of the foam, ensuring you line up the design. This will keep your shaker mixed contained – cover this with the die-cut panel to cover up the adhesive. To finish the card off, stamp a sentiment from the ALtenew Flower Vine stamp set in Onyx Black Versafine Ink and trim down to mount over the front die-cut window.

Lastly, add a few white and gold paint splatters using a round brush and Kuretek Gansai Tambi Starry Colors paint palette.

creating with decofoil Tone Sheets - Creating a see-through front card:

For this second card, trim a piece of Distressed lines Designer tone sheet to 6″ x 4.25″. Place this in a transfer sheet with the dull side of the toner sheet facing upwards and cover with Jade decoFoil with the colour facing upwards. Run this through your Minc machine or laminator to set the foil.

Once foiled, score at 0.5″ vertically to create a fold and adhere this onto a card panel made out of Ocean Mist Gina K Cardstock. Add another card panel to the back of this to hide the adhesive. To add a little more drama, ink blend the same colours of ink to the bottom of the card panel fading it out as you move up the card.

To add more stability to the card, trim a piece of cardstock to 1″ x 4.25″ and score in half. Ink blend this to match the bottom of the card and then fold over the bottom of the transfer sheet and adhere down.

Creating the sentiment

To create the sentiment and a space to hide your message inside the card, use one of the circle die-cuts from card one. Add ink blending to this circle to match the background of the card and foam mount on to the front. In addition, adhere a plain circle inside the card to cover up your adhesive as the toner sheet is see-through.

For the sentiment on the front, die-cut the Altenew Simply Friend 3 times to layer up with Gina K Connect glue. Stamp a secondary sentiment from the Altenew Floral Vine stamp set in Onyx Black Versafine ink and trim down into a thin strip.

To finish off, adhere the sentiments onto the circle and lastly, adhere a selection of Lucy’s Cards Sprinkles Big Dots scattered around the front.
