Today’s card was inspired after taking a class over on the Altenew Academy site for part of my AECP level 2, and this class was called ‘With a twist’. It was all about creating cards with a twist, and this card was inspired by creating a unique shaped card. With this idea, instead of a full front card, the shape of the card was influence by the shape of the stamp. Whatsmore, I added some stamping inside the card peeping out the front for a little more interest.

Creating a unique shaped card
To start off, trim and fold a piece of Hero Arts Nautical Cardstock down to make a 5.5″ x 4.25″ card base. Position this into your MISTI platform with the card base folded closed.

Next place the Altenew Delicate Bouquet stamp onto the card base at an angle. Ink this up with embossing ink and stamp down onto the card base. Next, cover this in gold pearl embossing powder and heat set.

Using a pair of scissors, fussy cut around the edge of the floral stamp from one side to another. Now you should have a card base with a unique shaped front to it.
Adding colour to the flowers
To colour the flowers in, start adding the lightest colour towards the bottom of the petals. Next, go in with a lighter blue and blend this out. Lastly, use white on the highlights of the petals for some definition. Repeat this with the leaves using a selection of greens.
PolyChromos Faber Castell Colours used:
- White 101
- Light Ultramarine 140
- Indanthrene Blue 247
- May Green 170Hookers Green 159
- Olive Green Yellowish 173
To add more interest to the card, use the Altenew Pinstripe background stamp to inside the card base to peak out from the front of the card. Ink up the corner of the stamp up with Hickory Distress Oxide and use a baby wipe to soften the edges of the ink on the stamp. Stamp this down onto the card and allow to dry.

For the sentiment, stamp a sentiment from the Altenew Sentiment Strips 2 stamp set in grey ink onto a white strip. Foam mount this onto the front of the card, slightly hanging off the edge of the card. For a little more interest, use Gold metallic paint to add some paint splatter to the bottom of the card.
