Creating a scene without stamps!

Scene making in the card world can often look intimidating with beautiful intricate scenes with a whole host of colouring media used! But scene making doesn’t have to be complicated, pairing it down with some simple die-cutting and stencilling you can easily create a scene without stamps. What’s more, add some ink blending in and there’s not a pen/pencil or paintbrush insight so this is perfect for beginners!

Creating a scene without stamps!

Creating a scene without stamps - making the moutains

Start off by die-cutting the mountain scene dies from Altenew out of cardstock. You can either cut this out of coloured cardstock or if you only have white card, cut them out of white and blend ink on to add the colour.

For the green mountains on this card, Eucalyptus Catherine Pool ink was blended on using an ink blending brush, and Spruce/Deck The Halls ink to add a shading over the trees.  The mountains in the distance were cut out of two shades for grey cardstock to add dimension to the card.

The layers were adhered together with double-sided tape to build up the scene.

Creating a scene without stamps - adding the sky

For the sky, use the Altenew Cloud Scene to ink blend blue ink onto white card. As you move up the sky, start to darken the shade of blue to add interest and make the sky appear more dimensional. The Colours used were It’s A Boy, Fiesta Blue and Suede Shoes Catherine Pooler Ink.

Foam mount the mountain scene onto the sky background and trim this down to fit onto a slim-line card. For the sentiment, stamp ‘Thinking Of You’ from the Altenew Delicate Bouquet stamp set in black ink and fussy cut this out. Add the sentiment to the front of the card with foam pads and embellish with sequins to finish the card off.
