The lovely Morgan from Heffy Doodle reached out to me and asked if I would love to make a few cards with some of the new September release from Heffy Doodle. This release has some very fun and cute stamps, and I’m showing you how to make a scene card with small stamps. Cute stamps aren’t the normal kind of stamps I reach for, so I wanted to show you how you can still make with cute stamps and build them into your card making style. When it comes to cute stamps, for me I like to keep it simple with lots of white space. I’ve also got an extra card with simple die-cutting to make an impact, and glitter is certainly the way to go!

how to create a scene card with small stamps
So to make a scene card with small stamps and for it to fit my style of card making, I like to keep it simple by using white space. This will allow colours to pop, designs to shine and create a modern stylish card. To create this card, I stamped a variety of stamps from the Flying High stamp set in Midnight ink. This is Copic friendly ink as I planned to use my Copics to colour the stamped images in.

I used very minimal colours to colour the images and added light cool grey colours to the clouds for some definition. To make a scene on the card, I like to add a shape for the stamps to sit on. After die-cutting a white circle, I used a blending tool to ink blend Cummerbund, Fiesta Blue and Something Borrowed ink onto the circle, creating a gradient sky.
To create the sentiment, I stamped a banner sentiment from the Flying High stamp set but did not ink up the ties right at the end. This is meant to go behind the plane in the stamp set, but I altered it to fit the style of the card. After all the images were coloured, they were die-cut out with the coordinating dies.

To assemble the scene card, try to add foam pads to create dimension between the elements in the scene – this will give added interest. I also like to ensure the card panel is smaller than the card base and foam mounted to for a modern look.
Simple die-cutting for big impact
This card used simple die-cutting to make an impact. Using the Silly Slimline Slants die to cut out a rainbow of glitter card stock. I used the following cardstock bundles to create the rainbow of glitter:

The die-cut slants were adhered to a white slimline cardbase. For the border, die-cut the Slimline Quartet die out of white cardstock and added to the cardbase with liquid adhesive to ensure it adheres well to the glitter cardstock.
The white squares from the Slimline Quartet dies were also foam mounted on the front. For the sentiment, die-cut the word hugs from the Slimline Quartet dies out of gold glitter cardstock from the Gilded glitter cardstock pack. These were also foam mounted onto the front for added dimension.
