Cream Inspired colour scheme – Lets get hopping!

Hello! So glad you have come over to the blog today as it is another Let’s Get Hopping blog hop! This month the theme was ‘Very Vanilla’. Within the blog hop group we have many crafts who are involved with Stampin’ Up! and this theme relates to a colour of cardstock/ink in the line. As I am not part of Stampin’ Up! I have used the most off white/cream coloured card I had. I quite liked this challenge as I often stick to white, black, grey or navy. It is always great to push your creativity and challenge yourself. So I hope you try a cream inspired colour scheme on your next card!

Cream Inspired colour scheme Card details

To start off, I created a textural background by applying Tonic Nuvo Mousse through a stencil. I choose the Mother of Pearl mousse as this mousse went well with the cardstock giving an almost tone on tone look. For the stencil, I used a new stencil for me. It is the ‘Tangled waves’ stencil from Brutus Monroe and I absolutely love it!

Whilst the background was drying I worked on the rest of the card. I stamped cake and layered with some distress oxide inks to tie in with the colour scheme. I added a layer of clear embossing ink on the top layer of the cake. To this, I added some Holographic embossing powder to add a layer of sparkle to the cake.

For the sentiment, I heat embossed a ‘Congrats’ die several times in platinum embossing powder and heat embossing a secondary sentiment on matching card stock.

Cream Inspired colour scheme Card: Assembly

Once the background was try, I trimmed the panel down to 5.25″ x 5.25″ and mounted this onto a card base. To help ground the cake and sentiemtn on the busy background, I added a velum stitched circle die cut. The cake was foam mounted onto the card and some matching sequins where added as embellishments.

Did you like this project? Why not pin it and save for later? It will be there for when you need it!
