Colour with embossing powders: World card making day – Insta hop & giveaway!

Happy World Card Making day! The WOW! Embossing powder and celebrating the day with a fun Instagram hop & giveaway so if you’re seeing this over on the blog, make sure you head over to my Instagram to comment and hop along. For today’s post, I created three cards with a colour combo of embossing powders inspired by the Zig-a-Zag  Ah Chevron die set from Heffy Doodle.  With this die-set, I’m showing you how easy it is to colour with embossing powders.

The die-set gave me the impression of an Aztec style and thought a rich navy, a mustard yellow and a gorgeous teal where colours that evoked feels of an Aztec style. I think these cards turned out and would work well for Masculine style cards. So let’s get started!

World card making day - colour with embossing powders

colour with embossing powders: Chevron pattern with white space

To create this card, first of heat emboss three card panels with the following embossing powders:

Next, use the Zig-a-Zag  Ah Chevron die set, and run each panel through your die-cutting machine with the die set.

For this card, adhere the die-cuts down onto a white card panel, alternating the colours and the thickness of the die-cuts. Make sure you leave some white space between the chevron pieces and vary the width to add interest.

Trim the panel down to 1/4 small and adhere to a white card base. For the sentiment, heat emboss in gold sentiment from the Very Vertical Sentiments stamp set from Heffy Doodle. The gold emboss connects to the gold in all three powders.

Trim the sentiment down and adhere to the front of the card. Lastly, embellish with some matt gold sequins to finish the card.

Now the next two cards use some of the leftover pieces of heat embossed card panels to create the cards. For this card, I used some of the heat embossed panels with a zig-zag edge that was created having use the Zig-a-Zag  Ah Chevron die earlier.

Trim the panels down and overlap each colour with the zig-zag end. Add foam pads between the layers to give some depth and dimension.

Finish this card off with another heat embossed sentiment from the Very Vertical Sentiments stamp set and then embellish with more matt gold sequins.

colour with embossing powders: creating with small leftovers

This last card uses more scraps in a very basic form. This time add 1/2 inch strips of each colour of embossing powder horizontally onto a white card base.

Make sure you space the strips out equally and add the strips within the middle third of the card base to create an eye-catching design.

Again, this card was finished with another Very Vertical Sentiments stamp set and then embellish with more matt gold sequins.
