Brutus Monroe: Shaker card

Hey, I hope you have a had a good week so far! The Brutus Monroe design team are hopping today showing you how to make a shaker card using different Brutus Monroe products. In this card I used a new product to me – Brutus Monroe Surface sprays.  I used these to create a fun textural background for my shaker window, and it took no time at all!

Brutus Monroe Shaker Card Details

To start off a trimmed down a smooth piece of watercolour card down to just larger than the size of a circle die which I was going to use the shaker window. I placed this piece of watercolour card inside an old show box to contain an excess spray.

Using Cornflower Surface Spray and Oz Surface Spray, I created an ombre sprayed background. I held the sprays around 10-15 cm from the card and sprayed several times. However, I didn’t want the card completely covered as I wanted to create texture. You can leave this to dry to one side, or alternatively to speed things up dry it with a heat gun.

Using a outer stitched circle die, I create a circle window cut out of a Alabaster card panel. This was then covered with a piece of acetate to the back to seal the window. To the back of the panel, I added foam tape curving around the edge of the window.

For the shaker elements I added sequins, micro beads and some large piece glitter. In addition I added three stamped diamonds from the Brutus Monore Diamonds stamp set. These were stamped in Speckled Egg, Cornflower and Sea surface inks, and were fussy cut out. The shaker window was sealed with the sprayed ombre background.

To decorate the front, a few more stamped diamonds were added so it looked lie the diamonds were falling down the card and a couple were foam mounted for dimension. A main sentiment was heat embossed in Alabaster onto Raven cardstock.  An additional sentiment was stamped in Cornflower directly onto the card using a sentiment from the Topsy Cake stamp set.

Did you like this project? Why not pin it and save for later? It will be there for when you need it!
