Hello there, good to see you! Hope you week is off to a good start and what better way to continue you it but with the Brutus Monroe Blog hop! Today all the team are using Brutus Monroe products to create a mix media piece. I have to admit, mix media isn’t my forte, I do love a clean and simple card. However, I loved the challegne, and if you ever get stuck in a rut I would give it a go. My tip to you, be more free with what you are doing, you can let go of the control and see where it takes you.

Mix media Butterflies card Details
For this card, I used the stamps and dies from the Butterfly Sentiment 2.0 collection from Brutus Monroe. I thought the softness of the butterflies would contrast well with dark colours and rough texture of my mix media piece.
To start off, I applied some Pure Platinum Tonic Nuvo Mousse through the Paint Spots stencil and set this to dry. Meanwhile, I stamped and die cut several of the butterflies in Sterling and Raven embossing powder. The two sentiments from the stamp set were also embossed onto black card and trimmed down.

When the background was dry, I tore the edges of the card for a more rustic look and blended some more Nuvo mousse onto the edges to soften them. In addition, I splatted some of the Nuvo mouse (watered down) for a more grungy look.
I took a piece of corresponding silver cord and positioned this onto the background and secured in place with Brutus Monroe Craft Glue.

The butterflies were foam mounted onto the card, at times double foam mounted for varied depth and dimension. I used some Gunmetal Alcholol mixative to paint a metal embellishment to tie in with the colour scheme. Lastly, I added some Liquid Mercury Tonci Nuvo drops to finish the panel. This panel was foam mounted on to a grey card base.
