Hello, I haven’t been very active as I have moved house, however, things are starting to settle down so I can now get back into my craft room. Today, I have a quick card with a winter-inspired background using alcohol inks. It was the perfect backdrop to add the beautiful leafy branch die over the top. It may not be a Christmas die, but I still think it works.

creating the winter-inspired background
To start off, trim down a piece of Alcohol ink Yupo paper down to size and add some Alcohol ink blending solution. Add a selection of drops of a colour of your choosing as use a straw or a pen case to blow the ink around. Make sure your room is well ventilated.

Add another colour in, blending the colours together. If needed, add more blending solution to smooth out harsh lines. The colours used on this background were: Denim, Cool Peri, Pool, Indigo and Stream. Set this aside to dry whilst working on the remainder of the card.

Assembling the card
Next, die-cut the PinkFresh Studio Leafy branch 3 times and layer up with Gina K Connect glue. For a little more shine, smoosh the layered die-cut into an embossing pad and heat set. If you want a smoother look, repeat this process 2-3 times. With some Gina K Connect glue, adhere the layered die-cut onto your alcohol ink background as well as some of the leftover white die-cut petals, scattering these around and in the die-cut.

For the sentiment, die cut the Birch Press Design ‘Merry’ from black card and layer up with glue. For a little sparkle, you can use a Wink of Stella brush on the front and then cover with Glossy Accents. This sentiment can be offset with a white die-cut as a shadow.

Mount the panel onto a white card made out of Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 110lb cardstock. Using a Gina K Connect glue adhere a scattering of sequins onto the front and finish off with a white heat embossed ‘Christmas’ sentiment strip from your stash.
